Student IT requirements

Hi, I'm a first year student taking business management with finance (BSc) and need a new laptop for my uni. I can't find information regarding what software my course will be using so I am unable to decide between a windows machine or a mac. Any suggestions?

If you need any special software it will be on most university computers.
Four your personal laptop it just needs and internet browser and somewhere to write your essays

It's business management with finance. You will probably be typing essays 90% of the time and perhaps writing very simple R and Python scripts. Any laptop will do.
