Why would you need to know this. Ask the person themselves, but if they were working Cash in hand, they likely won't tell you.

This is confusing! You get an NI number at age 16. If he is from another country and just arrived in UK and has 'leave to stay and work status' and just been given an NI number, he shouldn't have been working before then. If he was working and paying tax abroad, he must have some records which SFE might accept
