Student finance Sep 2023
Hi, I am going to be 22 when I start Textiles Design at University of Southampton this September and have been living independently for two years and do not qualify for student finance as an independent student.
My parents are divorced and both are unwilling to contribute to my education with my Mum insisting; as she has throughout my teenage years when I’ve tried to ask for help with the things I need; “your Dad can do that for you” and each time it’s gone in circles leaving me without anybody to seek help to attain what I need.
There is no reason otherwise for me not to attend university this year as I’m a very bright student and would benefit greatly from being able to continue my career path as a fabrics/interiors designer. I would prefer not to defer my offer for place with Southampton as I would like to get on with the rest of my life (I.e starting a family and obtaining a mortgage) and building my career.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
