Extra paper in exams

TLDR: Are the invigilators allowed to refuse to give you extra paper?

Every exam paper I've done in the past i've been allowed extra lined Paper.
I find drawing things, writing down everything I know about the topic in the question and writing out detailed plans is the only way I can cope in exams because my anxiety makes my mind really jumpy and I'll just forget everything mid essay.

Normally they just give me a piece of lined paper no worries but I had my 1st actual A level the other day and they refused, it wasn't too bad as only 1 question on that paper was essay but I have RS soon and I really don't think i'll be able to cope without the spare paper to help me focus my mind

help!
Hi! Not sure if this applies to your school, but in ours the invigilators were required to give out extra paper whenever the students asked. Maybe they thought you were cheating or something?
