Restoration of missing direct bus service Potters Bar to Barnet and return.

Students that either need use of, or live in/around Potters Bar, will be pleased to learn if not seen in the local and regional media already, that positive progress is being made at long last in restoring the former direct route service 84 used to cover through Hadley Highstone from Potters Bar to Barnet rail stations and return that was cut last year.

HCC & Hertsmere Council have found a way round the deadlock that existed due to issues between HCC and TfL over support funding streams since MetroLine pulled the plug on running the service St. Albans -Barnet & return as a stand alone commercial one.
Using Community Levy Funding, tenders have been put out to contract with expectation that the new service will be up and running by start of the academic year in Sept, subject also to a TfL (Transport for London) Public Service Permit.
The new service will, unlike previously, also include Barnet General Hospital in addition to which it did before Potters Bar Community Hospital, which has a Moorfields Eye Hospital outreach.
Definitive details will be available once the contract to run the service is finalised. I`m not sure if it will be an extension of the existing 84, or a separate one.
Don't forget that the government back £2 single fare in England has been extended to 31st Oct 2023, thence on £2.50 until almost the end of 2024.
A few smaller Hertfordshire operators are not participant in the scheme for various reasons ( e.g. Sullivans) but the likes of Arriva & Uno are.
