Does LSE favour private school applicants

No.

However, it does favour students with better grades. As many (but not all) private schools are academically selective, students at private schools tend (on average) to get better grades than those at state schools. (The state grammar schools, which are also selective, aren't sufficient in number of balance this out).

So at many very oversubscribed universities, like LSE, you will see a higher proportion of private school students than state school students that you might expect given the percentage of students who attend each type of school. This, however, is not because they went to private school.

Correlation is not causation.

wouldn’t give such a definitive rebuttal as that given above- I would state ‘not directly’
however, of course it always is a possibility that indirectly this could be the *effect* though not the intention of the selection criteria
nevertheless, a table published in the not too distant past by The Sutton Trust showed LSE to be one of the better performers when it comes to social mobility along with other institutions such as QMUL and Uni of Westminster

No - but it does favour Overseas applicants.
Nearly 70% of its student population is International, and most of those are Chinese.
