Is there an in between?

There are alternatives. You could get a job (one which doesn't require a degree or apprenticeship). Or you just just stay living with your parents, playing video games, for as long as you can. Assuming you're now 18, there not a requirement to be in education, employment or training - so you just claim benefits and live off those. Or you could marry somebody rich, and live off their earnings. There are plenty of options.

Except Universal Credit is a nightmare to claim and live off. It's not much money at all. So not much of an option in the longer term.

Get a job that appeals to you and develop a career from there. It’s also possible to explore uni and apprenticeship options later should you want to do so
Plenty of opportunities in the Armed Forces, there are also some interesting careers say in the Merchant Navy, or the mining industry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
