The Student Room Group

3 year residency rule

Born in the UK and lived there till the end of primary school. I am a British citizen. Moved to my home country (outside of the EU/EEA/Turkey), and have only visited once pre-pandemic, then COVID hit then hyperinflation in my home country meant I couldn't even go on holiday abroad. Enrolling in uni for the Sep 2024 intake and still living in my home country, it seems I cannot qualify for a student loan or even home fee status, although I heard it is a case by case basis. How unlucky am I in terms of getting home fee status? TIA

Hey, I am in the same predicament. Did you apply? what is the outcome? did you get the finance in the end?

Post a question on the Ask SFE forum to see if you are eligible - give details of your residency status and when you left and returned to the UK.
