Which MacBook for uni?

Hi everyone,

I’ll be going into my first year of uni and I will be studying computer science. I’m torn between the 2022 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13 inch and 2022 MacBook Pro 14 inch. With at least 16gb RAM for all.
Any help would be much appreciated
Just buy a PC, which will be much cheaper anyway, and put a dual boot of linux on it, which will probably be much more useful as a CS student.

I got the MacBook Air m2 13 inch, it is very fast and I haven’t noticed it lagging once. I can even play games like csgo on it which is a nice bonus
But a laptop . A 300-400 pound laptop will be more than cable of doing everything you need for uni . Buying a Mac is just for bragging rights . Look at me I can afford a 1300 new Mac .

Nobody gives a toss . Save yourself the money , which can go on much more useful things like rent , food etc .

Mum and dad buy them, not the students. Buying a laptop and building a rig is way better.
Any of those options should me more than good enough. Maybe check in with your uni’s comp sci office to make sure there won’t be any software compatibility issues.
Also what are the other posters talking about? A MacBook would last much longer than a £300 laptop

Then you are highly ignorant. I have owned both of various models for more than two decades, even my cheap chromebook still runs and that is six years old. Macbooks do not last longer than any other PC, they both use computer parts sourced by the same OEM's

It would assuming you use your laptop like a frisbee
