Worried about my eye

I think I might have a tiny scratch on my eye from an eye lash or smth- anyway- I ran some tap water in my eye the other day because I got something splash up into it…now I’m paranoid I’ll get keratitis or smth, I didn’t notice the scratch in my eye before using tap water but did have a little pain the day before.

Should I see if my eye gets worse before going to an optician/ gp?

Thanks

Never do later what you can do now!
It's advisable to consult with an eye specialist or an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. They can examine your eye, determine the extent of the injury, and provide appropriate treatment. They may prescribe antibiotics or other medications to prevent or treat infection.

Follow the instructions and recommendations of the healthcare professional regarding any medication, eye drops, or other treatments they prescribe.

Just to say that in my experience opticians *tend* to punt these things to A+E/Urgent Care, so if they advice you to go to hospital don't freak out about it.
My closest experience was getting something in my eye and washing it out with tap water. Optician sent me to Moorfields Eye Hospital, Moorfields took a look, said it's fine and that washing it out with water was exactly the right thing and that was the end of it.

Also, scratches on the cornea hurt a lot but they generally sort themselves out and heal pretty quick, so try not to worry.

Thanks! My eye doesn’t hurt much, it just feels like somethings in my eye when I close them and move my eye- I might be just paranoid about this.

It's probably a small scratch. "scratch on the eyeball" sounds scary but If nothing goes wrong, they heal ridiculously quickly (like it will probably be fine by this evening). But it makes sense to get a professional to look at it.

It could be an eyelash or something really small trapped under your eyelid. It does happen.
