York or Edinburgh?

Hello, I have received offers from the University of York (History) and the University of Edinburgh (Celtic). As of now, they are my top choices, but I can’t decide which one to firm. I like the overall atmosphere at York and their history department is highly regarded. However, Edinburgh is considered to be more prestigious and they offer more flexible degrees. At Edinburgh I’d also be able to study languages and literature alongside a history component. I love the modules offered at both. Does anyone have insight that might help me choose?

Only you know which subject you want to do.

Stop thinking about nebulous stuff like 'prestige' and start thinking about the reality of studying that subject every day for 3 years. Look at the optional units for each course, and in all years of that course, which units would you choose if you did that course.
