Hey there,

I hope you're keeping well.

Firstly, congrats on both of the offers! Both universities are great, and I have no doubt that either choice will be great for you.

Though it wouldn't be fair for me to compare both Unis (I'd be a quite biased even if I did haha), I can tell you a bit about Kent and my experience so far which would hopefully help you understand what it's like here:

Campus: Campus is very cozy, with a very friendly atmosphere. In my opinion, it's rural enough that's its peaceful and green (you'll see many rabbits, birds, squirrels, and the like) - but close enough to the city that you can get what's necessary. There are so many welcoming societies here, all of which would be more than hapy to take you in!

Location: Alongside all that, Canterbury is an incredibly beautiful place to live in, rich in history and culture, which luckily also happens to be a relatively close to relaxing coastal areas such as Whistable, Herne Bay, and Margate, making it an incredibly cozy and stunning place to stay at. Also, due its proximity to London, is becoming more of a commuter city to the capital as more links establish, which makes sense considering its about an hour away from Victoria by train. Many of my peers will regularly travel to London for the weekend simply to go to networking events for the fun of it!

Personal Life: As mentioned already, Canterbury is a beautiful city full of culture, cafes, parks, and the like. Nevertheless, it is also a semi-student city, just due to the amount of universities densely packed into the region, and so it also hosts many nightclubs, bars, restaurants, and more for you to enjoy.
As for part-time work, the University is great at offering students different jobs and roles to help and support them financially whilst studying. That ranges from Outreach jobs (teaching and inspiring children from around Kent), to assistant roles, to ambassdorial jobs, etc. - and then also anything else, via Jobshop. But, also around the city, you'll see business wanting to hire students as waiters, cashiers, your typical part-time roles that you'd find in cities! Point is, there's a lovely balance between fun and responsible, old and new, calm, and exciting all in one city.

Course: The Business and Marketing BSc program here seamlessly integrates with all that the university and city offer. Just like Canterbury provides a blend of historical charm and vibrant student life, this program balances a strong academic foundation with practical application and real-world experiences. You'll gain a solid understanding of core business principles in your first year, laying the groundwork for deeper dives into marketing specialisation later on. You'll research into consumer behavior, brand management, and digital marketing through lectures and workshops held in modern facilities like Sibson, but also around campus and in other buildings as well. Beyond its enriching experiences, the program is designed to be an investment in your future. The tough modules are balanced by strong graduate employability, with many of our alumni securing positions in top companies like PwC, IBM, and Deloitte

Support: Honestly though, the best thing that I truly love about this University though is the amount of support which it provides it's students with. It's an incredibly underrated factor. For me, it's been instrumental in helping my academic life evolve and improve since I joined. I mean this in the sense that most major classes will have drop-in sessions, whereby it's really just an hour of questioning your lecturer. You also have consultation hours with ALL professors, which is where professors have to drop everything they do and converse with you about any questions you may have, as well as you having your own academic advisor - who are staff with specialised knowledge in your area of study whom you can contact to support you, if need be.The University here also has a whole host of support departments which are around to give you necessary help, such as Mental Health Support. Work Opportunity and Job Searching Support, Academic Support, etc.

KBS: Finally, Sibson (the home of KBS and Economics) is an award-winning building which hosts a Bloomberg Suite, Computer labs, breakout spaces, student meeting areas, modern seminar rooms, multiple lecture theatres, a big atrium for conference and meeting events, and an ASPIRE lab. You'll often see students studying all around, or just sitting comfortably whilst waiting for friends or lectures to start - it's a generally comforting enviroment. Plus, the building has a nice little cafe for coffee breaks as a cherry on top. All that's to say, you will have all the essential tools you need to build up yourself up and succeed during your course!

Anyways, I hope this has helped somewhat.
I'd love to invite you to our next applicant day on the 2nd March, or on 13th March for you to get to know the campus and city a bit more.

Warm regards,

David
