Hands-on vs lecture-based learning?

Hey! I am doing this forum post for my Honors English class, and I am curious what people's opinions are on lecture-based classes versus hands-on project-based classes. I am specifically interested in your opinion in regard to writing classes, but I would love to hear about anyone's preference/what has worked well for them in the past. If you were to take an English class, would you prefer that it contain more writing assignments that you complete on your own or focus more on lectures/theory of English? Thanks!
