How do i apply to a specific UoB accommodation?

I have firmed UoB as my first choice and am thinking of applying for accommodation soon. But on the website it says that you can’t request to live somewhere specific when you apply.I was thinking of choosing one in the north village as lots of people recommend but is it true you can’t pick residence yourself? I’m a little confused.

So my understanding is you can rank about 9 choices, but you are not guaranteed your first choice. A friend who really wanted Hyatt Baker last year put her first 4/5 choices as HB but different room versions ie ensuite, shared bathroom etc so if you really love a particular hall it’s worth selecting all their room options as your top choices. Not sure if that’s changing this year but that is how 2023 worked
