GCSE requiremments for UNI

This may sound a bit dumb , but when top unis says you will need a strong set of GCSE grades including A(7) and A*(8/9) , is that like a serious requirement. Ive gotten quite mid GCSEs . 7 7 7 (7-6) 6 6 5 4 . However my A levels are looking Okay - A*A*Distinction *
Overall just wanted to know if GCSE are taken into account seriously or not
Gcse requirements differ between universities. Where a university says they require good GCSEs they mean it and if you dont meet it you dont get in irrespective of A level results.

Contact the university and ask them. They will be best placed to advise you rather than anyone on here.

Hi there,

If you are unsure what GCSEs you need in order to apply for university, then get in contact with the university you are interested in. From there, the admissions team may be able to indicate what is needed!

Any Uni demanding specific GCSE profiles does so because it can be that selective.
They mean it.
