ual art foundation 2024

They said that there will be approximately 1200 students, 50% each Home and International for the 2024/2025 intake.

I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on how good the course will be this year and how competitive it is, but it's unfortunately not very positive ;-;. They've said that it will be split over the Lime Grove and Archway campuses for the majority of the foundation course

What's not positive, the acceptance rate or the course this year itself? :frown:

Oh my god!
So they’re being even more greedy and filling up two campuses?

You only get one chance and one year for a foundation diploma. Don’t risk your year on UAL’s experiment on how much money they can squeeze out of their buildings and staff!
I’m a bit worried about how good the course will be now it’s all being done through one programme under UAL. I already have a place for the Kingston foundation - do people think that it is better given the change now to get the most out a foundation year? Everything I’ve read about Kingston foundation seems great! I don’t want it to harm the chance of getting into a UAL college for the BA though which I think it may…

Congrats with Kingston - I’m still waiting to hear about a place on the foundation (for Kingston and gif UAL) I’m a home student

Mix of both ngl :frown: They've been a bit disorganised with the arrangements, such as the last minute decision to split the course between archway as well due to construction at lime grove I believe they mentioned. The large concentration of students and combination of the courses under one for the first time doesn't bode the best either.

People are uncertain as to how organised it'll be, as well as some speculation over it being more competititve due to the nature of some of the bachelor degree courses nowadays (something about the foundation basically being required, and moreso than the usual people getting into ultra competitive courses like fashio, etc), but again, some are saying it's gonna be less competitive so who knows.

The appeal of UAL's name and the progression to BA still holds to some though, so unless you're concerned about time, money or have alternative offers, it's still worth a shot. It's just going to be a relatively riskier one this year, so it may be best for some to skip out when weighing up the pros and cons

What course are you planning to apply for BA at UAL? Kingston foundation is definitely respected alongside UAL's, so unless you're aiming for one of the more competitive courses at UAL, kingston is a very firm bet compared to this year's reshuffle. So if you apply to BA it might not affect your chances as much. And I suppose in the end, there might not actually be too much of a change to quality with the new UAL course, since it's all speculation at this point haha

I know there are some places that have earlier offer confirmation deadlines than UAL, so some are forced to accept those instead of risking the wait with UAL - is your deadline soon?

I’m currently hoping to apply for the Womenswear Print course at CSM but obviously things could change in a year so I do like how broad the Kingston foundation seems to be. The deadline is only a couple of weeks after offer and seeming like we won’t hear from UAL that soon! Appreciate your help.

yeahh sadly my friend got rejected a week after submission but i got an offer after a month in specialist so i think its actually a good sign if you haven’t heard any news yet. To any international applicants with representative you can ask your rep cus they usually get the news quicker in their portal
