Inter college social life Cambridge

How easy is it to socialise between colleges at Cambridge? I have an offer from Homerton and I’m concerned that social events and taking part in things will be harder because of the location. Also i was pooled to Homerton so will people take the **** because Homerton’s not as prestigious (sounds hella stupid, but I’ve heard Homerton are a "pool taker" college).

Hey, don't be disheartened. I applied open and got allocated to Medwards ... If anything medwards has a worser reputation than homerton. I recently went to the offer holder day and I loved the vibes there tho! I hate ppl who spread rumours and belittle other colleges! Cambridge is Cambridge, in a few years you'll just say that you have a degree from Cambridge lol. If they truly look down on you just because of Ur college (not in a joking way) then they're not worth being friends with.

Honestly, it's definitely easier to make friends within colleges, but it's not impossible to make friends from other colleges. Like everything, it depends on you!
Are you willing to put that extra mile into making friends? Are U willing to join lots of societies and clubs? There are plenty socs and clubs for the whole uni, so U can make so many friends from other colleges.

Start talking to offer holders now even, I've made lots of friends online who have offers from other colleges. It's definitely doable, but it's not possible if you hole up in Ur room 24/7 and refuse to make an effort. You get me?

Medwards is also quite far from the "central" campus but you know what? I think I'd like the walk. Cambridge is a beautiful town and it's good to clear the mind. You'll be fine 😌 at the end of the day it's what you make of the experience, how you view the experience, and what choices you decide to make that depicts your time there.
A lot of societies will be intercollegiate, if not most. With the exception of rowing and some of the really popular sports and subjects, most just would be too small with only one college, but even these have uni-wide equivalents.

Also I wouldn't worry about the pooling situation, it just isn't that big of an issue once you're here.

Hi, thanks for your response. Will my location be an issue? Something I'm concerned about is walking back in the dark after late nights out.

I doubt it, most of your nights out will involve at least someone else from your college. You'll also be the closest college to one of the clubs (Junction) which may work in your favour.
