Maths Tuition Wanted

Hi, I'm 17, finishing year 12 (male), living in london (near angel/highbury) and looking for somebody, preferably of university age, to give me maths tuition over the summer (and possibly sooner). I'm not struggling in classes at all, and I'm extremely enthusiastic about maths (and physics) so I do tend to read ahead on my own as much as possible anyway, but I thought it would be useful to see how much it would help to actually have one on one tuition for a bit.

I'd be glad to pay something like £25 an hour, probably on a weekly basis, and I'd like to cover at least some first year university stuff. I find most fairly pure maths really interesting, and also a lot of mechanics (getting my teeth a bit more into special relativity, for example, would be very nice).

So yeah, anybody looking for some part-time money get back to me.

Cheers, Luke

Shame I don't live in London. :p:

You may wish to try somewhere like bluetutors.co.uk. That way you know the people you're talking to know what they're on about.

Yeah I used blue tutors for GCSE french and english, they were good, and the experienced ones (TIER 2) charged 27 quid an hour, its actually 22 quid but the fiver is for travelling costs x
This is unfair to poor maths students. Rich kids/

Yes, how dare some people spend more money than others who earn less!

But still its unfair that the rich have more opportunity then the poor. Saying that historically geniuses tend to come from poor families like Gauss or Riemann. But still, rich kids/

P.S. It would be better if the poor rised up and shared everything equally instead of having a big rich/poor gap. Also, change society from a materialistic to a sort of nihilistic society.

Sounds fairly communist to me.:p:
I understand what you're saying though.

naive - see Simplicity [new input for dictioaries - do you have any idea of like reality ?]

OP; don't waste money ! You will find it more worthwhile to learn by yourself (cuz that is surely what will happen at university) - the SUMS books [springer undersgraduate mathematical series are rather pleasant additions to my relatively large, ahem, repotoir of "legally" obtained books [perhaps type in number theory book pdf (I even found Hardy + Wrights by typing in Hardy number theory pdf)).

why dont you just do all the modules?
maths
further maths
additional maths

c1 c2 c3 c4 fp1 fp2 fp3 s1 s2 s3 s4 m1 m2 m3 m4 m5 d1 d2

then cover some university undergraduate stuff

Additional further maths is horrendously dull.

would stuff in s3 s4 m3 m4 m5 d1 d2 be covered in a maths degree?

...
What A-level maths modules have you studied, and how did you do in your January modules?

(I'm a university student living in London, but I am interested to know what you realistically want to learn.)

Yep.

ah good, therefore i rest my case about the OP doing further maths and additional mathematics, this will cover everything deemed ok for a level students to do and stuff at undergraduate level whilst gaining a grade and recognition of doing it instead of spending £25 an hour just learning it and not getting any acknowledgement

The difference being that, at university, it will be covered properly.

You also contradicted yourself above.

its not hours well spent
imho the olympiad is a good filer for those interesetd in getting better at maths - they develop and reorganize the way you approach a problem - i.e. you actually think about what to do carefully notice the implications and understand things more deeply which is far more valuable than extra k-nowledge
