We build our courses to suit you; this is why you can choose to study full time, part time, or online. Our courses can also be started in January as well as September, or even April (for online courses).

Courses
We offer a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses. All of our courses have flexible learning options that include part time, full time and online study.
International/Erasmus opportunities
There are a number of student exchange opportunities. If you are already studying at Derby and want to study at another institution inside Europe, you can become a part of the Erasmus programme.
If you want to apply for an Erasmus exchange, there must be an agreement between the University of Derby and the host University in the subject area you are currently studying.

Faculties/departments
Arts, Design and Technology
The Art, Design and Technology faculty has an impressive team of experienced tutors that have worked within their respective industries. Courses benefit from visiting speakers that can offer a deeper insight into their professional fields.
The Degree Show allows our students to exhibit their hard work during their final year, and our degrees also incorporates live projects and work placements to maximise your potential to find work after graduation.
Education, Health and Sciences
The Education, Health and Science faculty covers a range of courses that are relevant to practice and industry, actively encouraging you to gain experience and work placements.
We’ve invested in and built specialist facilities for our education, health and science courses. In 2012 we refurbished our science laboratories to support your learning experience with specialist equipment.
Business, Computing and Law
The Business, Computing and Law department focuses its courses around practical experience with well-known companies including Rolls-Royce, JCB, Toyota, Boots, Norseman Holdings and Microsoft. This is because we know employers are looking for graduates with work experience, making sure you get the most out of your degree.
Studying business at Derby is all about making your experience the best it can be, making learning exciting as well as relevant and interesting.
University of Derby Buxton
At our Buxton campus we pride ourselves on the highest quality facilities which will give you the best real world learning experience possible. Buxton also has similar facilities to those in our Derby campus, as well as fabulous eateries and an onsite spa.
If your course is taught at the Buxton campus, you’ll benefit from being placed within the heart of the Peak District making Buxton the perfect place to study.

Scholarships/bursaries
Each scholarship has an overall benefit of £3,000. You will receive £1,000 as a grant and £2,000 as a fee waiver.
To be eligible to apply for a scholarship you must have a household income of less than £25,000, plus at least one more of our scholarship criteria.

Library and Study Facilities
We provide access to library sources both print and online, information and technology and study space to support you in your studies. Help and advice is available throughout the year from our friendly and knowledgeable staff.
We are open over 65 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, in term time. To find out more information regarding our library services, click here.
IT
Our IT facilities and support services are here to help you make the most out of your studies. We offer technical help, help using software, assistive software, and help with e-resources.
Sporting
Team Derby is the focal point for the development and delivery of sport here at the University of Derby and provides students, staff and members of the public with a world of sporting opportunity, fitness and activity.
We take pride in nurturing talent both on and off the field, but value participation and getting involved just as much as we do trophies. We believe that sport has a place for everyone - and whilst we know that winning isn't everything, we believe that enjoyment is.
Our facilities are being developed to cater for students of all abilities, from students competing at national and regional level, to those who have only a fledging interest in recreational sport, health and exercise.
Our commitment is to develop both performance and participation, and provide opportunities that will enable you to be involved in and enjoy sport at whatever level you choose.
Amenities
At our main Kedleston Road campus we have various shops and eateries to take your fancy. We have a newsagents called ‘Keddies’ where you can get all your pre-packed snacks, drinks and food. We also have a coffee shop called ‘Blends’ which is run by our Students’ Union, two cash machines and a range of places to get hot food.

Medical Services
GP Practice
Our onsite GP practice is Park Medical Practice, commonly referred to as PMP. The practice is the same as any other NHS general practice except that it only offers its services to students of the University of Derby. For further information or to make an appointment contact 01332 747140

Student Union
The responsibility of our Students’ Union is to make life better for the students studying at the University of Derby. The Students’ Union isn’t part of the University, and the independence they have is key to their role. They are both student led and student focused.
The Students’ Union takes form in many areas of the University, including a newsagent, coffee shop and bar which is fully run by our students. Not to mention all the events that take place across the academic year.

Main Halls/accommodation for 1st years
Most first year students live in halls because they're just a short walk away from our campuses, and they're a great way to make friends. They also offer you safe and good value accommodation with other students.
We’re committed to providing safe, affordable accommodation in our halls of residence but if you prefer, we can also help you to find private accommodation in the area.

Availability
You can apply for your room in halls as soon as you’ve got a firm offer from us. The earlier you apply, the better chance you have of getting the room you want.
Costs
The cost of your accommodation will depend on what sort of room you choose to live in:
• Standard room (All at Derby halls except Peak Court) - £89.32/week
• En suite/disabled (At Buxton and all Derby halls except Lonsdale Hall) - £106.47/week
• Standard plus (Lonsdale Hall) - £94.36/week
• En suite plus (Only at Sir Peter Hilton Court, Derby) - £112.49/week
• Large standard (Lonsdale Hall only) - £93.17/week
• Large standard plus (Lonsdale Hall) - £97.86/week
Facilities
Our halls are comfortable, secure and convenient. They are made up of purpose built, self-contained flats and have excellent facilities including:
- A well equipped kitchen that you'll share with your flatmates
a shared bathroom or en suite facilities, depending on the hall you choose
- On-site 24 hour staff cover, security and CCTV
- A coin-operated laundry
- On-site car parking (at an extra cost)
- Fast and efficient broadband
- Freeview TV and radio through your PC
- Free bike storage.

Recognised off campus accommodation
If you’d prefer to rent a private property we can help you find the right place through our registered private housing scheme.
You can get our free shuttle bus between the three sites on our Derby Campus, and the Unibus service will take you between our halls, Campus, the city centre and the train station all for low cost fares.
