Student Life in Loughborough
Loughborough itself is a lively market town that is really geared towards its student population. It has a vibrant nightlife and plenty of reasonably-priced places to eat and socialise with friends. If you’re looking to head further afield, its convenient Midlands location means that London is reachable by direct train in less than 1.5 hours and you can be in Nottingham, Leicester or Derby within 30 minutes. We are also only 15 minutes from East Midlands Airport so international travel couldn’t be easier.
Travel information
Loughborough is at the heart of England in Leicestershire and is well served by road, rail and air. Loughborough railway station is a mere 10 minutes away from campus with regular bus services operating between the two locations every ten minutes during term times. Regular Intercity services operate between Loughborough and other main line towns including daily trains to and from London St Pancras International only 90 minutes away. There is a free shuttle bus that runs across campus every few minutes which is free to use during term time, too.
Featured Societies
Cocktail Society
With the Cocktail Society you will learn bar skills and techniques, experience the cocktail night life of Loughborough (and beyond) and meet some new people along the way. They have a variety of events including themed socials and masterclasses in cocktail bars and joint socials with other societies and universities
Landscape and Gardening Society
They are a student society collectively developing a campus garden, growing vegetables, fruits and flowers. They have a communal gardening space that they have developed over the last four years. They organise seasonal workshops on gardening, the environment and foraging. They harvest the campus and produce apple juice and cider! They share food, ideas and recipes from different cultures.
Role Play and Wargaming Society
Also known as RWS this society is for traditional gaming of all types. They socialise on a regular basis. They’re a friendly bunch of gamers who are enthusiastic about the Gaming Genre and welcome everyone with an open mind to give this most rewarding hobby a try. You’ll wish you started years ago!
