Aside from this, I've been offered a one bedroom flat nearest to Bow Road tube stop in East London for 500 pounds/month aside from electricity. Based on my limited understanding this is a generous offer. My concern is making the most of my time in London. Is this far enough from "Central London" that I'll be too far to really enjoy it? Also, is this neighborhood lively at all or is it just dead quiet? I'm pretty lost about what to think about it.

If you're set on living alone, then take the place in Bow. I live in Bermondsey, which is about 25 mins away from LSE. And although I live with other LSEers and UOL students, we spend most of our time in and around the university, so I wouldn't worry about being isolated.

Obviously, if you choose to spend every waking hour at home, sitting in your room studying, it will be difficult to make friends. But if you go to the library, attend society events, get to know people, etc, you'll be fine.

Also, £125 per week is a very good offer.

Hey everyone! I've got an MSc offer in the government department. Due to the cost of the degree I will be living at home :frown:. But I'm still super excited about starting at LSE!

So does anyone know which hall is the best?
In terms of spaciousness of the room.
General cleanliness.
Food etc etc...

No one is mentioning Butler's Wharf at all. Is it that boring? Does it actually exist or is it warped in some other dimension where space and time fail to make an impact? Coz I put it as first choice...it would suck if no one else went there... but I would have lots of room.

Yeah I've also noticed a distinct lack of info about BW on here! I put it as my second choice after Sindey-Webb, would be interested to know what some present students think of the place!

I'm actually changing my mind towards a shared house. Never had good experiences with student residences and everyone I know that has been there has changed as soon as he could. Moreover i love to cook and to organize dinners, and i guess a student residence it's not the best place for such things. On the other hand if it's true that LSE is not that sociable, a student residence could give that little boost that i guess everyone needs at the beginning.
I'm too confused :\

Hi everyone, I've received a conditional offer for the MSc in Human Rights , I have a couple of questions as I'm a little confused. I got the offer email on May 5th and am expecting the letter to arrive at some point (post here in Egypt is rather awful). So shall I get in touch with LSE and explain this or?

Secondly, about accommodation, what sort of residence is best suited for a postrgrad student on a shoestring? Any advice on this?

Cheers everyone!

I don't know what the link is for the US group, but this is a link to the TSR LSE postgrads group: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/home.php?sk=group_177245985644757&ap=1

The letter and offer pack will come in the post at some point but many people had to wait a long time before it arrived. There's really no need to call LSE though as everything you might need such as the offer certificate are available to download from LSE For You and the offer pack is also there online.

I'd have a good look on the residential halls websites because you may want to go for the one with the lowest weekly rent for pure cost sake, or weigh in things like whether you want it to be postgrad specific, catered or self-catered, etc.

Hi all, I received an unconditional offer for the MSc in Global Communications. As far as I can tell I've got all my needed documents in, but I'm still missing a CAS number. Is this the case for anyone else? I'm starting to worry I won't get my visa in time!

Also, has anyone else yet heard back from accommodations? I did apply for some of the LSE halls, but I'm not sure when I can expect word.

I'm very excited for my program, but I have to admit this whole process is making me very nervous! As LSE makes it very difficult to contact them unless you live in the UK, apparently. (I'm from the US, and haven't had much luck trying to call.)

No one has a CAS number yet from what I've heard. You can only make the Visa application within 3 months of course registration, so they won't issue them for a while yet. No one has received accommodation allocations yet either, except summer school people. Latest word is 'sometime in June' (a far cry from 'from 1 May').

I have a conditional offer for MSc European Political Economy, in the European Institute.

I'm a current LSE student, so I know the system pretty well if anyone has burning questions.

I'm doing the MSc in European Studies Research - almost certain I'll be choosing the Political Economy stream. Do you know if we will be getting any summer reading recommendations? I've been to the course listings pages and have looked at several of the books there, but beyond that I haven't heard anything. Have you?
Hey everyone!

Congrats on getting all your offers and hope your exams went well if you have conditional offers!

When you get to LSE, you'll find that there are hundreds of societies to take part in, catering all interests. This is a great way to make new friends and interact with people who you perhaps wouldn't normally socialise with, not to mention it looks great on your CV. If you have any questions about societies (or just LSE in general), feel free to quote me and I'll try my best to answer them!

See you at Freshers' Fayre!

I am still waiting for my CAS. Did other people receive your CAS? And when did you accept your unconditional offer?

Many people have received their CAS number. There are many who haven't yet as well though

For the rest who still haven't received their CAS number, do they also have unconditional offer? I accepted my unconditional offer in mid April. When did you receive your CAS number?
