Obviously too many important shows to reduce to just five so I tried to pick a varied list and shows like Blackadder and Friends have been missed out despite their impact. Also had to miss out arguably some of the better modern shows Arrested Development/ Community/ Parks and Rec/ The Daily Show because their impact will be much more evident in the future.
Well of course you think that if you primarily watch Desperate Housewives and Family Guy (and, to a lesser extent, Friends)
The reason I don't much TV is because I've obviously trialed a lot of TV shows, particularly American shows and frankly I don't get the hype. My conclusion didn't come out of thin-air.
Desperate Housewives's season finale is in a month from now, Family Guy has become too 'try hard' and Friends is, well Friends is cool.

1) Being Human (Just the awesomeness of Annie ..RIP ) 2) Glee (Sue Sylvester) 3) LOST (The massive plot) 4) Misfits (Just love the concept) 5) Friends (Just the brilliance)
Glee is a very close second though It has some of the funniest moments ever
