I got 3A+b at AS, and expect to be predicted A*AA/AAA for A2 (need to check), I did pretty well at my UKCAT (>800), and am thinking about applying to kings.
Presuming the interview etc goes well, one thing I'm worried about is accommodation, I won't get guaranteed accommodation for any year because I live in the M25.
I don't want to live at home, and I am slow to make friends (not exceptionally so, but I'm not the extravert), how can I get a flat-share near kings? I don't have facebook, so I cant advertise myself on the KCL page

Like with UCL, it's a guaranteed first year, and then by the end, you can move in with mates, but with kings you cant...

UoL and KIng's both host flat finder events, which would definitely be attendable, especially since you're within the M25. Check the accommodation page for the dates and contact info

I'm a postgrad looking to swap into an intercollegiate hall, I have Stamford St right now. Any postgrads here willing?

Hey fivc!
I've got Julian Markham House which is 10 mins bus from Strand or Guys campus. Lots of direct buses right outside. It has really nice rooms, ensuite and self-catered, but not intercollegiate.... :/ Would love to swap for stamford st though...??

Sorry, I want a catered hall, and I really prefer Bloomsbury because I used to live in halls there.
I'm in Orchard Lisle House(2 min to guys campus and London Bridge Station ) , and I wanna swap for an ensuite in Stamford or Moonraker . Any FEMALE POSTGRADUATE student insterested ?
Hey gyus I'm staying at Ewen Henderson. I heard bad things about it initially but my flat is in such great condition, it's very warm, quite enough to get work done, parties pretty much every night at neighbouring flats if you want to socialise, everyone here is so nice and its 2 mins away from the station. If you speak to anyone at Ewen they will tell you the same thing! It's also getting repainted and recarpeted over christmas. Because of personal issues, unfortunately, I have to move out after the first term (December), and will have to find a replacement tenant. It's £150 pw which is a bargain considering it's condition and being an en-suite in central London. If you or others are interested let me know. Thank you!
Hi! I am looking for a room in SSA. Its kind of urgent. Is your room still available. Im getting Ewen Henderson which I didnt accept yet but since im based at Waterloo campus I would prefer a place in SSA. If any1 who is planing 2 move out of SSA please contact me by PM [MOD EDIT: PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS ON A PUBLIC FORUM]

Student accommodation available!

I have been living in private student accommodation at Great Suffolk Street as I am studying in my first year at KCL. However I have just been offered first year student residence by KCL and so am moving out. I am looking for someone to take over my room at the Great Suffolk Street residence!

On offer is a Classic Ensuite bedroom in a cluster flat of 5 with a shared kitchen. Everyone in the flat is lovely - two girls and two guys. The room is spacious and modern - there is a double bed, a large desk space for studying and plenty of storage space too. There is a floor to ceiling window (from which you can see the London Eye) making the room very light and open. There is also an en-suite with a toilet, basin, large mirror and shower in. The property has a top-floor common room and a large roof-top terrace with stunning 360 views across London including St. Paul’s Cathedral, The London Eye and The Shard. Wi-Fi, content insurance and all bills are included in the price for this flat.

Great Suffolk Street is situated in an ideal Zone 1 location and so would be great for anyone studying at KCL or London Southbank University as these are both universities within walking distance. Southwark tube is also a few minutes walk away which is on the Jubilee line and can take you to Waterloo in only one stop. Therefore any student living here could get to any university such as UCL or LSE relatively quickly due to its very central location.

There would be a £500 deposit and the property costs £239 per week, for a tenancy that ends on 5 September 2014.

Please let me know if you are interested by PM [MOD EDIT: PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OUT PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESSES ON PUBLIC FORUMS]

Hi, I'm an applicant this year, and live outside the M25. I satisfy the criteria for a guarantee accommodation (not necessarily first year). If I get an offer, I will firm Kings. However, the website says that those who firmly except an offer should "expect" a place first year.

What exactly does this mean? I'm pretty much set to apply, except this is really concerning. Any sort of first year accommodation is crucial for me.

Many Thanks

I have friends who went back to halls for their second year, and they'll have been classed as a lower priority than all the first years outside the m25 who applied. I'm sure you'll be fine.
Hi all,

I am currently a 3rd year student living at home ( never lived in halls, within the M25 -zones 3/4) but I really want to move into halls next year because I am kinda sick of living at home. Obviously, I know I'll have a lower priority than anyone else but does anyone have any pointers to make my application *stronger*? My friend who lives at Moonraker Point said that he knows a couple of people who live in halls but live just 15 mins away from their home address. I'm just wondering how they got accomodation!

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
Hi,

I have a room in Great Dover Street Apts which is near Guy's campus, London Bridge and Borough station. It is a single en-suite room with a fridge. The fee is about £168.5 per week. If you are a postgraduate student and have not accepted an place of King's accommodation, you can take my room anytime. Please contact me if you are interested.
Thank you ^^

Hi! I’m looking to swap my single room at Commonwealth Hall for a room in Great Dover Street or Wolfson House.
Commonwealth is an Intercollegiate hall, and this means you get to meet new and different people every day!
It is in situated in Bloomsbury, which is a really amazing location. It is walking distance from Oxford Street , the British Museum and the British Library. It is also about 30 minutes walk to Waterloo and Strand campuses as well as having supermarkets, cafés and restaurants in very close proximity!
Commonwealth is catered. The food while not amazing is definitely edible and can save you a lot of time and money!!
If you are interested, please contact me as soon as possible!! Thank you!
Does anyone want to swap for an en-suite at Julian Markham? I'm looking for Great Dover, Stamford, Wolfson or Brian Creamer! Alternatively if anyone needs a room (not a swap) then please contact me!!!!

Hey guys!!

I'm an international student from Australia with deferred entry (2014) for medicine. I am popping by London this December and want to get an early look at which place to stay for my first year. I am an undergrad btw.

So just wanted to ask if there is any halls I should look into more carefully -as I presume I will be studying at guys campus. Thanks!

It's random allocation based on preferences so you can't be guaranteed any halls in particular. I'm a first year medic living at hampstead and really recommend it! It's 30mins door to door and in a lovely part of London, very sociable, huge rooms and cheap! Although if you want proximity and just want to roll out of bed for lectures every morning put wolfson as your first choice.

Wolfson and GDS if you wanna be a lazy student

But I'd really really recommend intercollegiate halls if you want to meet people from a really diverse range of places. They're usually pretty close, and IT'S CATERED!
(honestly. It's such a hassle to cook when you've come back from dissection/some communication workshop - coming from a 2nd year)

its completely random. the only things you put on your application are the order of preferences of where you want to stay, so you can't really make it 'stronger'. apply and pray for the best. I live fair near to uni but I got my first choice of SSA (after declining another halls first). quite a lot of people that live within the m25/in london are staying in halls so dont worry, theres a fairly good chance youll get it
