What is a 'beta'?

I'm too embarrassed to ask off anon and google won't give me an answer
Why do people keep using it and what does it mean?!
Usually I can figure these kind of things out but I really can't with this one! Help please!

It's an internet term used to describe a male displaying feminine personality traits. Literally nobody with any social skill uses it outside of the internet, though, and the people on the internet that seriously use it to describe others are ironically little bitch-boys themselves, so I wouldn't worry about getting familiarised with the term.

It goes further than that, being civilised, polite, working hard, playing fair, getting married, having a normal job are all beta traits.

Actual Alpha traits generally lead to prison or death.

Alpha = drug use, promiscuity, violence, criminality, drug dealing, impregnating married women.
