People make these exact posts every time something like this happens. The simple truth is because people aren't as concerned. Afghanistan is a million miles from London, whereas Paris and Brussels are next door. People have a 'if it can happen to them, it can happen to us' view on Paris and Brussels which is why they're more interested

Pretty much this. We're vastly closer to Paris than Kabul both geographically and culturally. Also as another poster stated, many of us have been to Paris at some point. Finally, an attack in Kabul doesn't really make us feel any less safe, but an attack in Paris does because if it can happen there it can happen here.
Regardless of the fact that a terrorist attack is much more likely to happen in Afghanistan (which is pretty much a warzone)...

Obviously (most) European people are going to feel more 'connected' with attacks on countries like Belgium and France. We're culturally similar, we're located close to them and we're just generally more 'integrated' with them. It's the same in other parts of the world as well. For example, if there was a terrorist attack in Saudi Arabia, someone from let's say the UAE would probably mourn for them more than they did for France or Belgium. Just because someone mourns more/gives more attention to a tragedy in a specific country, it doesn't mean they don't care for a tragedy that has happened in another. That would pretty much explain the higher media attention in Western media when a European tragedy happens. By the way, it's not that Western media doesn't report on other terrorist attacks around the world; it's that people generally give more attention to attacks that occur in the West. If you want more in depth coverage, feel free to get it from a non-Western media outlet.

Today 28 were killed in a massive bomb attack in Kabul but it only got about 10 seconds mention in the news yet when Paris was attacked the news coverage lasted all day long.

Why is there the difference in attention?

Not another one of these threads...

Two reasons: 1) it's a long way away, it is not something on our doorstep.
2) we expect it to happen, the value of a news story drops the more expected it is, if a celebrity dies young we hear about if, if a 3 year old dies of cancer we might hear about it, when your 97 year old uncle dies, well nobody really cares.

That's pretty much like asking for a source saying NASA faked the moon landing
