someone please explain why couln't you use suvat here?

m17.pngfor part 1 m21.png in the mark scheme why did they use the velocity only when the position was also given ? so why doesnt the position vector affect the initial speed ?

I haven't done M2 yet but i do know that SUVAT is derived under the assumption that acceleration is constant.

i'm also assuming the skydiver doesn't have a constant acceleration thus you can't use suvat
