General Tips/Advice for OMAM Exam Tomorow

Just thought I'd post these to make everyone's life easier.

For Extract questions:

*Highlight the question - mood & atmosphere
*Read the text all the way through, the second time get your highlighter out and identify quotes to talk about
*Make sure the answer is easy to follow and that it shows progression of the character in the extract(if it's a character question)
*Use ALL of the extract
*In Mood/Atmosphere questions, there is always a CHANGE. For full marks, you must discuss the change. It usually goes from calm to danger or vice versa.
*EMBED quotes. It shows the examiner more sophistication in your analysing
*Refer to Steinbeck in your answer(don't use "We"/"us")

For Essay questions:
*PLAN. Make a quick spider diagram of your points and make sure they're in order of the novel. A more structured answer is always more favourable.
*Refer to the IMPACT on the reader - empathy is ESSENTIAL in these questions
*Context, context, CONTEXT
