cheers, so if i scaled it properly, i should be fine?

Yeah as long as your frequency densities were right

Hi I'm going to start and unofficial markscheme so add your answers
Reps are not necessary but would be appreciated

It would be really useful if you could remember the question numbers
1. Order numbers correctly and include a key
b) 9/20=
0.45
2a. 5a*2b*3c =
30abc
b. Factorise fully 3y +6 =
3(y+2)
c. Expand x(x-3)=
x^2-3x
3.
x=9.25
4. Smallest packet was best value for money because it was cheapest per bag of crisps
5. 4 times as many red than green: There were 0.4 blue and 0.15 yellow.
0.4+0.15+4x+x=1
0.55+5x=1
5x=0.45
x=0.09
4x=0.36
Green- 0.09 Red- 0.36
6a. 20.3
b. 68.04kg
c. 2.61m
7. 3.8
8a. 4:3
b. 480 pixels
9.x= 124 degrees
10. 7.92
11.£42.29
12. x=144 degrees
13.
-2 -1 0 1 2
-1 3 1 -1 3
Draw curve
14. 3 Bars
15. No, because 7766.22 was greater than 7500 pounds
16. 128g
b.11g
17. 30.1
18. 10a^5b^4
b. y= 5p^2-x
19.11 males
20. x= 0.29 or x= -2.29
21. 29.25
22. F.d- 1.6, 3.2, 2.4, 1.8, 0.3
23.28.9
24a. -1/3x+4
b. 2x/(x+1)(x-1)
25. 80.4

Do you have any of the marks per question so we can add up our predicted scores?
What were the marks awarded for each question roughly?

What grade boundary would a c be in.

For question 19, I done the correct formula but I think I put 10 males instead of 11, would I get a mark

Honestly if you look at a stratified sample past paper question then the mark scheme is quite lenient usually. They give the correct answer in mark scheme and they USUALLY allow you to be 1 higher or 1 lower.

This is because sometimes what you work out, if you add all of the values up including your one, the total may be off by 1, so sometimes 10.8 should be 10.

But they are lenient usually, so I think 10-11 will be allowed.

Good luck!
Guys is it ok if i got 80.8 for the last qutiones

it was closer to 3.7. all my friends, teachers agreed with me. if we are all wrong well thats a bummer because itll mean i got 99/100 in the paper :frown:

the difference is bigger as when numbers increase the difference increases.
eg. 2 cubed = 8
4 cubed = 64
8 cubed = 512

the exact answer is 3.7504
Original post by HateOCR
I think ur answer will not be accepted because it was 10.8 recurring, since its higher than 0.5 then your ment to round up. if ur examiner is kind ull get the mark tho

Damn. You see I thought when it came to people you can't round another person as you don't have an extra 0.2 of a person, so I rounded it down :/

It's 3.8, check any past paper question and read the mark scheme.

You need to find the solution of x to 1 dp, not which dp is closer to it.

3.75 is not x, it's too small, so the solution of x is after 3.75 so it rounds to 3.8

Good luck with the 99 or 98 though!

What do you think the grade boundaries for an A* will be?
Is it just me that got 40.0 for the last one?

damn i lost bare marks man :frown:

80.4
or 80.1 we are having a school debate, you couldd say a maths debate

If you said 80.4 you would be correct, I originally got 80.1 but I released I had rounded my calculations during my working out, which you should not do.

I don't think so because the angle has to be between the two sides (7 &8) for the formula of triangle area to work and x was another angle so you had to do cosine to find another side and then sine rule too before you could get x. Not sure though. xx

Surely it would be 1/2 ab sinC as the area was 18 and you rearrange to find the angle which is 40.0
Minimal 91/100
Maximum 96/100
Realistic 93-94/100

Is this good; I'm really unhappy with it. :frown:

Are you sure about that because all of my top set class got 3.8 myself included? I mean you might be right but I thought it would most likely be 3.8

--------my answer--------
(before all this below i did 3.5 and 3.6)
3.73.7^3 - 5(3.7) = 32.153
34 - 32.153 = 1.847
So 3.7 is 1.847 away.

3.83.8^3 - 5(3.8) = 35.872
35.872 - 34 = 1.872
So 3.8 is 1.872 away.

This shows 3.8 being 0.025 further away than 3.7. 3.7 is closer. Therefore, the answer is 3.7, even though 3.75, the midpoint between them gives an answer smaller than 34.

Ive done all the past papers from 2003 till 2016 (i sat my gcse this year) and sometimes the exam is lenient and sometimes they wont accept it. I think if lots of people did your mistake then you will get the mark bc ur technically correct in the end

Yeah as long as your frequency densities were right

Ah phew because my densities were right and by the looks of the unofficial mark scheme, I've gotten 100% so I dont want to sacrifice my chances for a silly error like forgetting to label an axis
Reply 1399
Anybody know the predicted grade boundaries for the two papers combined?

Do you think if I got about 70 marks on both non-calc and calc I could get an A?
