At degree level, a lot of the material taught is, yes.

However, actually working as an engineer is usually quite different, encompassing much more than just the material taught at university.

What is it like working as an engineer? What do you do on a daily basis?

That's a big question. There are different types of engineer. I used to be a design engineer; tasks included doing the calculations, using specialist analysis software, actually doing the designing and getting drawings produced, writing reports. Some work in operations where they do, well, operational stuff that I'm not sure about. Some work as project engineers, which again I'm not too sure about.
