All those abbreviations look scary I'm definitely looking forward to it though - I just have to do lots of pre-reading.
I actually never took Physics, but I did circuits in GCSE (I know ), and they seem reasonable enough. But hopefully my Further Maths should benefit - especially Decision Maths and all the various algorithms.
As long as the lecturers properly explain everything, then I don't mind how tough it is.
As for circuits, its really not going to be anything like what you are imagining. Its all about using AND, OR and NOT gates (and there varients) to fulfil the task given to you. The notes are ok, the lecturer is terrible, and the practicals are woeful. You will do a lot of this: http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_4/chpt_11/2.html asynchronous JK flip flop counters
You don't need to do any prereading though. You genuinely can arrive knowing nothing and still do well - that's what the introductory courses are for. Although obviously you do need a solid maths background, because the ICM module isn't anything to do with A level maths - its all set theory, propositional logic, and all that jazz.
