The Student Room Group
Hey romulus22

'want to apply'?

What I say is give it a shot, so you have the option of going even if you may choose not to. UCAS spoon feeds us students so you've got nothing to lose if you dont get into a US uni.

As for cost, fill in next week's euromilllions and if you win, you might have just enough to cover a universty course
As you're probably aware they are expensive, and although some people may believe its not worth it, others beg to differ. for a 3/4 years course we're talking over $150,000 (£80,000+). However, prove yourself a viable candidate and you may be aplicable for scholarships and what not.

Ivy league uni's also supply a 'needs blind' financial aid programme which allows students to gain finance for their studies in that specific univeristy.

All in all, you need to prove yourself a viable student, so complete them essays well, do plenty of extra curricular activities and show them you've got the potential!

All the best

Depends. Financially, state schools (like UCLA, Berkeley, Purdue, University of NC Chapel Hill) won't be as painful as private unis (Ivy Leagues, NYU, USC, Stanford). You can try for scholarships and grants.
