Intro and question

Hello all.

I'm a British Conservation Biologist (raptor specialist) resident in Brazil who has just had the great good forune to be accepted at local veterinary school as a mature student (the concept is not recognised in Brazil). So am changing my career (I hope) to be more hands-on with animals (especially raptors).

But as my course is in Portuguese, I need information in English as a basis to completely understand.

So, my question is, please can someone direct me to a website that includes labelled illustrations of the parts of the bones of the equine skeleton. Pleeeaaassse!

Cheers
John

Try registering with wikivet. They have a bit of everything on there.

Yes Wikivet is a good idea - just put your uni name and country in the registration form and they'll accept you after a couple of days

I'm at uni in Vienna as a mature student and my course is in German. Surely you have to learn the latin terms for anatomy? They are obviously the same wherever you are! And I would have thought that the Portuguese terms are similar to the latin? (as it is a latin language? German terms are totally different so we had to learn both!). I can understand that you want some English text to make sure you completely understand your Portuguese notes but TBH all the English texts I found just had the latin names reversed and anglicised - musculus deltoideus became deltoid muscle!

Dyce (Veterinary Anatomy) is good to read alongside a decent atlas as I found it helpful in explaining complicated anatomical concepts, but there are hardly any pictures in it, so Dyce alone will not be much use. Sorry, can't suggest much else as most of my anatomy books were in German.

Good luck!
