I heard about this website that just by typing in the words related to your serch, you can find information from all the websites in the world
Hitler was the epitome of a mad dictator. He was the leader of many concentration camps in which many Jews died. Winston Churchill was his worst enemy and the PM of Britain at the time.

The war went on and Adolf Hitler killed himself which caused us victory by default.

50 years later American History X was released.
Basic info about Hitler? Nah, I've never heard of him.

Anybody got any basic information about these two topics?
I wanna get as much "basic" research as possible before I begin my writing.

Thank you.

could you just not go to the library or google it and start writing from there... is this for a class paper?

You should be aware, however, that Google was invented by Jews, and so it is highly unlikely that you will find objective information on Adolf Hitler or the Holocaust.

Six million Jews were killed during the Holocaust.

Jews were not the only people/races/minorities targeted by Hitler's Nazi reigime. Those with disabilities, gypsies, Soviets, Communist, political dissidents, Jehocah's Witness and homosexuals were also targeted. Jews obviously form the bulk of those who were killed during the Holocaust but it's important to remember they weren't the victims.

So as an estimate, about 6 million Jews were killed and 11 - 18 million people in total. Usually herded up and sent to gas chambers. All of this was part of the "Final Solution" to exterminate the Jewish race.

After the Second World War, when the concentration camps were being liberated and the full horrors (and casualty numbers) were being realised this created a significant amount of symapthy for the Jewish people and increasing calls for the partition of the British Mandate of Palestine (and the eventual creation of the state of Israel).

By April 1947 there were 147,000 Jewsish survivors of the Holocaust in displaced persons camps in the American zones of the occupied territories (Bauer, 2001) with further numbers in British, French and Soviet occupied territories. This large number placed a huge pressure on the international community to create a Jewish state and reach a solution. The environment displaced persons were living in following liberation created humanitarian concern expressed most clearly after Earl. G. Harrison visited the camps and stated that “we appear to be treating the Jews as the Nazis treated them except we do not exterminate them.” With many finding their homes had been destroyed or sold, they were forced to remain in the “graveyards of their families” (Sachar, 2007, pg.249).

Prior to this, with the rise of Nazism in Germany and the fear of Jewish persecution Jewish immigration into Palestine increased to 65,000 by 1935 (Sherman, 1997, pg. 91). This is only increased as the Second World War was underway and an increasing number of Jews from Nazi occupied Europe were being sent to the Concentration camps.

If brinigng Palestine (and the creation of Israel) into this, you need to be careful as it's an incredibly complex issue (and anything you read about Palestine/Israel will always have a bias). It's a bit too simplistic to say the Holocaust and the problems of disaplced persons (those who survived the Holocaust) following the liberation of concentration camps was the only reason why Israel came into existence But it plays a big part. You also need to be careful not to suggest that ALL of the international community was in favour of the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine. Ernest Bevin, the then British foreign secretary, was often accused (possibly unfairly) of being an anti-semite and did show opposition to further Jewish immigration/colonisation of Palestine following the Holocaust. He was arguably more pro-Arab than an anti-Semite. Still. I digress.

Adolf Hitler was born in Austria.

He was a failed painter (having been rejected from art school).

He fought in World War One, and was imprisoned in the 1920s following the Munich Putsch - a failed political revolution led by Hitler and other heads of the Kampfbund in....1923 if I remember correctly. Certainly the earlyish 1920s.

Hitler was imprisoned for his role in the attempted revolution. During his time in prison he wrote his famous " Mein Kampf " - part autobiography and part-political treatise (of sorts). It certainly included elements of Hitler's political ideology.

Following his release from prison Hitler became leader of the Nazi (a Nationalist Socialist) party and became Chancellor of Germany in 1933 and, eventually, dictator (Fuhrer). His charismatic style and admirable skills as an orator helped to win him popular support and he benefited from the resentment some Germans still felt about the Treaty of Versailles and how harshly Germany was dealt with following their defeat in the First World War.

He started to occupy some of Europe, including terriotries that were lost following the Treaty of Versailles. He also began a period of re-armament (significant restrictions were placed on Germany's navy, air force and army sizes after the Treaty of Versailles). There was still significant problems following the global recession caused by the Wall Street crash of 1929 with Germany particularly badly hit. Inflation was out of control and unemployment reached 6 million (I think). All of this helped to create the conditions which allowed Hitler to take and keep power.

He made an Anschluss with Austria ( a " union " ) and invaded Czechoslovakia for example. He was possibly encouraged by the British policy of appeasement. Chamberlain, the then British Prime Minister, met with Hitler and agreed to give away part of Czechoslovakia to appease Htler. He returned to Britain a hero and was praised. People thought he had prevented another world war.

However, this was not to be. It only encouraged Hiler who thought he was free to do what he liked. Knowing that Hitler was looking to invade Poland, the British and French promised to protect Poland if Hitler invaded. Sure enough, on the 1st of September 1939 Hitler invaded Poland. On the 3d of September Britain and France declared war. THe Second World War had begun. It was to end with Hiler hiding in his underground bunger taking his own life as the Soviets successful invaded and swarmed around Munich.

Attempts were made on Hitler's life during his time as Fuhrer and he narrowly avoided being killed in one plot, when some of his own men turned against him and plotted to kill him. This plot was unsucessdul of course.

Some people are suprised when they find out that Hitler was actually an admirer of the British. This is not really suprising, given that he was a man with imperialistic desires and, given the British Empre was the largest empire in history, he admired it. He also saw the British (specifically English) as the other " true " Germanic people and actually wanted an alliance between the two countries.

It is said that when Britain and France did declare war on Germany in 1939 following Hitler's invasion of Poland, he sat in stunned silence for a number of hours. So sure was he that the British and French wouldn't declare war on Germany. That they'd just let him get away with it (as he'd pretty much been allowed to do until this point).

This is a very basic overview Hiler, the events leading up to the second world war, the holocaust and its lasting impact. I'm sure you know much, hopefully all of this already. You certainly should know a fair amount of it if you're 15 or over.

Edit: - Try looking at some Internet Sites like the Holocaust History Project

http://www.holocaust-history.org/

Just remember that some sites are more reliable than others and that pretty much everything is written with a bias. Also, don't get too carried away with them as it's easy to get carried away and then feel overwhelmed by the information.

It might also be worth looking at Holocaust deniers and the controversry surrounding that. One famous Holocaust denier in the British historan David Irving.

Just google David Irving. You'll find a hell of a lot of sites! Again, many with their own bias and some better than others.

If you are a GCSE student, don't get carried away, you really don't need such huge amounts of information.

Thank you.
This will give you a solid foundation for your writing.

It is brilliantly broken down nicely for you into
- Nazi Foreign Policy pre WWII
- The actual Nazi Germany (which includes the Anti Semitism, Concentration Camps and the Final solution etc)
- The key figures such as Adolf Hitler are covered substantially for this level.

There are also important people like Himmler, Goering, Goebbels , Darre and Hess

Good luck.
