Also, the top 10 threads for every genre under the sun are starting to annoy me. Not least because there are some important genre out there that have been overlooked (Top 10 torture porn films, for example ).
Not heard of torture porn films before? It's films like Hostel, Saw etc. One of my friends did a whole dissertation on them (wasn't a very good dissertation but whatever ).
Saw, Hostel, Hard Candy (to a lesser extent)... these all fit pretty much into the category of torture porn, a genre which for the most part I completely fail to see the attraction of.

I didn't know the genre was actually called 'torture porn' FFS. Porn usually meant sex. 'Torture porn' as a word on the other hand sound really weird.
I see your point though, I dont get the attraction of this genre. To me its just cheap thrills. Which is why I have never seen Saw or any movie of its kind, because I just think its a waste of time. It does get annoying when someone proclaims that the Saw films are among the best.

FFS
It's a somewhat tongue-in-cheek name for that particular brand of cinema.
I don't even see how it can be called cheap thrills, tbh. I've never particularly wanted to see someone's head crushed from the inside, or watch how possible it is to fillet a human being with a chainsaw. Half of Saw 2 was good because it was quite psychological at times, but from what I hear most of the latter ones are just a sequence of gore-strewn events. It baffles me why some people rank them so highly.

I'll admit I do watch these films but not in such a way that I look for the cinematic qualities or the deep, immersive storyline. I watch them when I'm in the kind of mood where I need mindless entertainment. It's the same with all the cheesy US comedies that are churned out monthly.

Same. When I'm not in the mood to concentrate, I watch 90210 for the eye candy.
Any one here who doesn't really see the appeal of How I met You Mother?
I don't. I've watched it quite a few times, mostly because of Alyson Hannigan, but it's never really made me properly laugh. Haven't watched it for quite a while and I probably won't ever watch an episode again.
In other news Rooney Mara has landed the role of Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and unknownking321 has purchased the Millennium Trilogy.
