Volunteer Performers Needed

Every grain tells a story...........
Stan’s Cafe are bringing their internationally renowned installation
Of All The People In All The World to Gallery Oldham in September 2010.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED!
VOLUNTEER PERFORMERS NEEDED!

Ever wondered just how many babies were born today? Or the population of Iraq? Or who’s ever swum the channel? Or everyone on Death Row? What DOES the population of Oldham look like measured out in rice? And just how does this relate to performing?

Of All The People In All The World is a performance installation in which provocative global and local statistics are measured out in rice, one grain per person. By doing no more than making abstract statistics tangible and placing them in careful relation to each other, Stan’s Cafe create a powerful and informative work. Each day a team of performers carefully weigh out rice to represent different population statistics. The show responds to the interests and suggestions of its audience and these statistics become an ever changing sculptural landscape, their combinations tell true stories that are by turns shocking, celebratory, witty, thought provoking and deeply moving.

Stan’s Cafe artists will be present throughout the installation carefully researching new statistics, developing themes, weighing out and placing the rice, maintaining the installation and engaging with the public and we need you - a team of local performers to assist and support them.

The installation will be held in Tokyo at the same time as Oldham and is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in performing arts, challenging and interactive theatre and working with a world renowned, innovative arts organisation.

As a volunteer you will be required to perform and interact with the visitors, as well as gathering statistics and weighing out the rice. You may also be asked to help lift large sacks of rice and help with the get in and get out of the installation.
