Hey, i'm a UK applicant and I applied for Southampton's Graphic Arts course and Nottingham Trent out of the ones you put. Southampton is in a really nice area and the course seems really broad. Nottingham Trent also seems to have a broad course but not sure about the area.
I've heard that Brighton is one of the best for graphics and also that Edinburgh and Loughborough are good for it too. Hope this helps a bit =)

Royal College of Art DOES NOT offer undergraduate courses. It is a sole postgraduate art college.

Southampton - Graphic Arts W210 This is in Winchester. I personally didn't like it.
Edinburgh College of Art
Dundee University
Loughborough Make sure you have a foundation course to do Visual Communication here.
Royal College of Art Not at Undergrad level.
Newcastle Didn't think they did Graphics?
Nottingham Trent Again, want a foundation course.
Central Saint Martins - Foundation, Graphics Design Probably best going for LCC, part of the University of the Arts.
Kingston

Brighton Want a foundation course but they also offer a foundation degree. Not actually at Brighton but at a local college.
Brunel Didn't think they did Graphics?
Goldsmith Do straight Design, not specialised Graphic Design.
Newcastle Didn't think they did Graphics?

Nottingham Trent don't need a foundation course, it's just preferred xD

London is a good place to study art. you can go to University of the Arts London. But if you want to read outside London, is also a very good school, for example, Leeds University, Edinburgh University, UK College of Creative Studies. These universities are well known. In addition to University of the Arts London, London School of Design University of Westminster is also strong, ranking even higher than the University of the Arts London.

Thanks so much on clearing out some of the unis, assembled the final edition of places:

INDEPENDENT APPLICATION
Loughborough foundation
Kingston foundation
LCC / CSM foundation (god I wish I can get this)
Oxford Brooks foundation (?)
Falmouth foundation
UCA Epsom foundation

APPLY THROUGH UCAS
Southampton Uni (Winchester)
Portsmouth Uni
Nottingham Trent
Edinburgh College of Art (integrated foundation year, plus degree issued from Edinburgh Uni (going to merge sooner or later anyway))

Yup, last problem is I have one place left on the UCAS application, and the universities are twisting my brain. I heard Ravensbourne being mentioned several times, but I have absolutely no idea about Leeds (metro?), Reading and Bournemouth Institute, how are they compared to places like Oxford Brooks or UCA colleges?

You are my saviours, and today is my last deadline to apply, I eagerly await your thoughts!

I've heard that Ravensbourne's graphics course is really digital but if youlike that kind of thing then go for it =) google them and check out the website =)
Have you looked at Glasgow school of art? Their course looks really good.
Also Falmouth seem to have a seriously good graphics course =)
Thanx guys.
I just checked the course at southampton university and i am satisfied with it. May be i would apply for Southampton, Leeds, Salford, De Montfort and middlesex.

I love you all, you know that?

What about UCA Epsom? How's the foundation course there? And what about the other UCA colleges?

EDIT - WAIT A TICK, UCA's deadline for all foundation applications is 31st of MARCH? Really? ECA and Falmouth and Kingston and god knows how many other unis require apps to be handed in by 31st of JANUARY, can UCA possibly be this tolerant?

BTW, what's the deadline for Loughborough Art Foundation application? Can't find it anywhere.

It was just a portfolio review really, just left our portfolios in a room and were given a talk about the course in the meantime. They said we have to wait around 2 weeks to hear back! I don't think I can wait that long! I've literally been refreshing my email every 5 minutes xD
I'm guessing you're also applying to the foundation then?

Yeah I have and I have my interview on Tuesday! I can't wait two weeks eek! But doesn't their response usually come by letter so checking your email maybe a bit demoralising if you dont hear anything haha. If I get in it would be my top choice I'm just really hoping I do get in!

Is Southampton still your top choice?

We should keep each other updated with how we get on at Loughborough

Sorry if this is a little late but, I visited UCA Epsom and Farnham and I really didn't like Epsom because it felt really collegey and I think the place is generally more fashion based! Farnham is the largest of all the UCA campuses and I didn't really like the graphic communication course too much there because it felt too traditional and not up to date enough. But I did love the look of their advertising and brand communication course! Generally about Farnham the accommodation wasn't that great and you have to pay extra for Internet, there aren't any nightclubs in town only the student union but there are like 50+ pubs.

One of my good friends has applied to oxford brookes' foundation course and she said they want your fine art skills to be very high!

Good luck!

Good luck on your interview! I didn't understand the last paragraph on the drawing assignment sheet at all and nor did my teachers so not sure if I did the drawing right =s How are you doing yours? If that makes sense xD

Good point - yeah they do send a letter xD i'm still waiting for something from Southampton though! They're the only uni that has replied to me =s
At the moment its still my top choice despite the bad interview experiences on here =p I liked how the course was so broad, the area was really nice, the work from students looked good...the only thing worrying me is that its still quite a new course so =s I have to go back and visit! Maybe I liked it so much because it was the first place I went to =p

Haha yeah we should! Thread takeover? =p
I'll add you on here as a friend if thats cool and we can message then =)

yeah that last paragraph was confusing, so i called admissions and they said basically if you make a mistake then don't rub it out completely leave it because we want to see you correct it or something along those lines. I've done mine landscape and used 10 objects, and say for example the top of one of the bottles i originally drew it too high i left it in lightly and went darker over the other finalised lines. I just hope it's good enough :s-smilie:.

yeah with southampton i didn't get to visit them on the open day and only saw them on the interview day, in comparison to loughborough the campus is so tiny and cute! haha,. but i'm looking for more of a lively campus where the art students aren't completely separate to the main campus :s-smilie:.

Maybe you could try and email/phone winchester admissions and see what the hold up is?

oh and yes we can message if you want! if we can chat on my thread i posted about loughborough here if you want: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1518194
