Today wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I ate healthy meals (instead of the processed junk the boy and I often end up eating). We only had half the bag of doritos, and did have some carrots/sugarsnap peas.

Got my Race for Life tomorrow  Aiming for under 30 minutes, but not sure if I'll manage it.

Good luck for tomorrow  I was going to do a race for life then got dragged into the relay instead!

And I've had an off day also. My diet is shocking at the minute, I'm losing weight purely because I'm exercising. And it's my 18th on Monday so not going to be good then either :/

It seems like a lot of people had off days today. Let's all try to do better tomorrow. :yep:

Planning to go for a run first thing in the morning  Weather permitting... Whenever it's cloudy/looks like rain I can't run ANYWHERE without getting a bunch of flies in my face/mouth.
Really not feeling good:frown: Since my surgery ive been pretty much bound to the sofa and as the livin room is next to the kitchen ive just been eating and not doing any exercise. I want to go to the gym! But cant really exercise till i've at least had a follow up appointment at the doctors (which i have no idea when will be happening) otherwise i could cause a hernia and i don't really fancy having my stomach exploding out of my tummy on me:s-smilie:

I was doing well-ish until today. I had stopped eating chocolate and was having reasonable portions...
Got up late had a small bowl of cereal (good intentions etc.), decided to treat myself to a bacon butty for lunch and then 90mins ago my brother told me that dominoes were doing any size pizza for £10. Had a large one to myself, was amazing and totally worth it. Not so great for being 'healthy' though. =/

useful links/resources

bmi calculator
although bmi is not the be all and end all, it can give you a rough indication of how much weight you have to lose, or whether you're a healthy weight. Obviously if you're building muscle this will not be entirely accurate for you; but for most who are trying to lose weight this is helpful.

bmr calculator
your bmr is basically how many calories you'd burn on an average day if you did nothing. You should eat over your bmr if you're gaining weight, and under it if you're losing weight. Obviously you have to factor in how many calories you're burning during exercise, too.

myfitnesspal
this allows you to keep a track of how much you're eating and how much exercise you're doing. The forums are helpful for specialist advice and there are lots of progress photos which i always find to be very helpful and motivating.

sparkpeople
similar to mfp, also includes exercise videos, workout/stretch routines and healthy lifestyle articles.

tickerfactory
if you want to keep everyone updated with your progress, a ticker is very helpful (like the one i have in my sig). It helps to show how far you've come, and how far you have left to go. You can update your ticker at any time simply by clicking on it in your sig.

if you feel as though this thread is not enough, there are slimming world/weight watchers meetings literally all over the country. Try out the websites to see where your nearest one is. They're not free, but a good option if you find that face to face meetings are more effective for you than online support groups.

..obviously i will add more links and information as the time goes on, just thought we'd get the thread up and running so as many people could contribute as possible! I don't have much of a clue about anything other than losing weight, so if anyone wants to add weight gain websites, quote me.

Leaving for my Race for Life in about 20 minutes

Just a nice breakfast of fruit and fibre with orange juice and frozen berries, so hopefully that'll keep me going.

Umm.. what?

EDIT: Oh sorry I didn't realise we'd merged with another thread haha. Hi .

Has anyone noticed they're much more high maintenance since they lost weight? Honestly, it's costing me an absolute fortune, and I'm still the size of a whale (albeit a baby one now ) so goodness knows what I'll be like when I'm at my goal weight.

I used to be such a simple person. Only ever wore hoodies, jeans and trainers in the winter, and t shirt, jeans and trainers in the summer. Didn't wear make up, had awful skin, didn't touch my eyebrows, and my hair was just.. natural.

Now..

I go for my eyebrows threaded every 3 weeks.
Hair cut and highlighted every six weeks.
Don't even OWN a hoodie or a pair of trainers.
Insist on keeping my nails nice and painted.
Want a pair of GHDs BADLY..

What am I going to be like further down the line?! It's beyond a joke really!!

I hope I never get to the point of being as bad as my flatmate...He is bad, like seriously.

I get my hair done ~ every 4 weeks
Clothes-wise I tend to spend stupid money on shoes (don't ask unless you want to be appalled at my leather shoes spends), getting worse with everything else tend to be smart (hardly wear t-shirts normally shirts/polos).
I have 2 hoodies for hangover days and can't be ****ed days though
Plus trainers for running /lots of walking.
I have money to spend though having lived cheaper than expected through the year which is nice!

Good to treat yourself though, keeps the motivation!

I did that with GHDs yesterday, except I closed the page before it could checkout because I felt guilty about spending that amount of money on myself all at once..

Lol! I was so annoyed...its always the same, couldnt decide if I needed to spend the money...and now its gone I really wanted it :o:

Though I can't complain too much...they had an 18 in stock afterwards...but that was no good anymore  I want a 14 dammit! :p:
*Butts in* Hi! :hi:

I'm aiming to gain or maintain my weight, as I'm underweight in BMI - its about 16 or 17 (I'm not certain of my height). According to the link in the OP, my BMR is 1262.7, so I guess I need to eat more calories than that, right? I'm not usually very active, so I doubt I will be losing loads from exercise, just need to eat more.
I'm actually holding off on buying new clothes until I reach my goal weight. Bar the occasional necessity (i.e. I have to buy a dress this week to wear to a wedding at the weekend).
On the whole though, instead of buying new clothes, I'm spending my time selling all the clothes that are too big for me now on ebay!
Ran it in 37 minutes in the end

Considering it was about 28 degrees and completely cloudless, plus the route was up and down hills/over lots of uneven ground, I don't think it was too bad a time.

Not really beyond a joke, most girls do regularly visit salons etc to maintain their appearance  its good that you want to make a change inside and out though

Hi there,

Had an off day yesterday, went to the cinema to see Harry Potter  I didn't have KFC like I usually do so I had a homemade ham roll and had popcorn at the cinema! Quite proud
I start the C25K tomorrow and going to start exercising at home too. Hopefully in September I will sign up to the gym at University! Hopefully I will be ok doing running and exercising there and eating healthily like I do now, I don't drink that much so hopefully I will reach my 40lbs weight loss by the end of next year if I keep on top of it!

Haha, I'm getting like that too! I just replaced my six year old straighteners, I'm getting my hair completely re-styled on Tuesday for the first time ever, and I can't stop buying clothes. I know I haven't lost much weight but I think it's more the whole thing of feeling better about yourself! And that's not a bad thing.
