First of all, welcome to the thread. This is for anyone who would like to make positive and healthy steps towards changing their life. This could be losing weight, gaining weight, gaining muscle, improving your stamina- whatever you like.

Please remember that it is normal to experience weight changes during your teenage years. Don't mistake these weight changes for changes that will remain with you for your entire life. If you feel as though this is you, then simply ensure that you're eating healthily and doing a good amount of exercise (3 x 30 mins per week). If you are are school, then you should find that you get enough exercise during your PE lessons. We don't know how old you are when you join this thread, so we will just answer your questions as needed, however be aware that we will not promote unhealthy weight loss or fad diets.

Please feel free to post helpful links and resources, I will be more than happy to add them into this starting post if they're helpful. Also, when you post for the first time, please introduce yourself and include your aims, stats and a little bit about your situation!

Please be aware that we will only be supporting healthy and realistic aims, but we will be able to offer support to everyone.

Useful Links/Resources

BMI Calculator
Although BMI is not the be all and end all, it can give you a rough indication of how much weight you have to lose, or whether you're a healthy weight. Obviously if you're building muscle this will not be entirely accurate for you; but for most who are trying to lose weight this is helpful.

BMR Calculator
Your BMR is basically how many calories you'd burn on an average day if you did nothing. You should eat over your BMR if you're gaining weight, and under it if you're losing weight. Obviously you have to factor in how many calories you're burning during exercise, too.

MyFitnessPal
This allows you to keep a track of how much you're eating and how much exercise you're doing. The forums are helpful for specialist advice and there are lots of progress photos which I always find to be very helpful and motivating.

TickerFactory
If you want to keep everyone updated with your progress, a ticker is very helpful (like the one I have in my sig). It helps to show how far you've come, and how far you have left to go. You can update your ticker at any time simply by clicking on it in your sig.

Yes! Everything goes dark from the edges and everything goes distant. I've fainted from it a couple of times, but usually the room just rocks a bit. It doesn't just happen when lifting but that seems to bring it on. I have a huge phobia of needles so I didn't have a blood test, I did have BP and I think it was on the lower side of normal but still normal. :dontknow:

Thought I'd quote you in here instead.

Hmm, well obviously you've been to your GP so I'd just keep an eye on it and go back if it doesn't go away. And please don't do weights on your own! I'm pretty sure heavy things above your head and passing out don't mix well!

That's why I've stopped, scared the life out of me when I nearly passed out while actually lifting. I'm thinking of doing a yoga class or something more gentle until I can sort it out. Thanks anyway

:wink:Hello I'm Boba

I'm 5'2 and weigh 9st 8lb giving me a BMI of about 24

I have two aims loose weight at get fitter.
for the weight loss my goal is somewhere between 8st and 8st 7lbs which would give me a BMI of about 21. I don't have any specific targets for the fitness goal, maybe I should get one.

I started loosing weight on the other thread and got to 9st 5lbs but during exams I gave up and ended up back at 9st 12lbs so I'm back at it but still behind.

oh and I would like to be as close to my target as possible by the end of September when I start uni.

My Dad's bought some of those mini savoury eggs and some bite-sized cornish pasties. They're sitting in the fridge tempting me. But as I normally ask if I'm allowed X from the fridge when there's stuff they don't normally buy, I just haven't asked so I'd feel too rude to eat any! God knows, I could finish a packet of savoury eggs in one sitting, they're just so good :coma:

I think you said a while back, but I forgot who it was :colondollar:

Yeah, it's getting really 'I'm going to eat nothing, do cardio like crazy and then in a few months, after losing 24857 stones, I'll stop and eat crap and do nothing again', whereas a lot of us are trying to change our lifestyles and just be healthy.

Hi all

Spoiler

I'm Jess. I want to: Lose fat, build muscle, get back to my old measurements (35-25-35) down from (36-27-35) and get in shape for hockey season, as well as run a 5k in 20 minutes.

I'm 5'2", 129lbs and am first aiming to get down to 122lbs, see how I look and if need be, lose 3 more lbs. I want a body fat % of around 23%, down from 25.7%.

I'm also just learning to cook properly so am trying to enjoy my diet by experimenting with different bits and pieces.

I'm at the beginning though - both of you have proved to yourselves that you can do it and stick to it and are motivated and I feel like for the past few weeks I've just been floundering. I'm also worried about going back to uni - the dreaded biscuits will be there for the taking :erm:

---

I've been banned from the kitchen while my Dad deep cleans it. I'm really hungry and want lunch. :nothing: Maybe I'm not so worried about going back to uni, actually. :nothing:

Since everyone's writing their aims
I'd like to get healthy and good at running, I'm planning on losing about 8/9 pounds to give me a BMI of 22, and I'd like to be a solid 10/12 size instead of 14ish.
Although going to Rome tomorrow with my boyfriend so will likely come back a bit tubbier than I left...

Hey guys! I've got a few goals this summer. I want to lose a little weight, build stamina and get a leaner frame! (:

I do want to look good in front of a camera too, but I have no idea how to do that ... the lens adds on about twenty pounds for me!

Thank you, I'm actually all right with gaining a few pounds if I manage to do it in Italy  I'll bring back some healthy Italian recipes, if they exist...

Anybody else here really like running? I used to be a great sprinter, reasonable distance runner, and now I can't run half a mile without collapsing on the floor. So my main aim is to be able to run properly again I think
New thread!!!!! Yay!
