Perhaps, but anyone who pays much attention to PC games media should hear of it, especially as it's looking like the media will think it's a pretty good game. I agree that their 'element of surprise' approach has failed to whip up an instant attention-storm, but keep in mind that they only announced it a couple of days [EDIT: Ok, a couple of weeks] ago, so we don't really know what their marketing campaign is going to be like, yet.
Also what do people make of Battlefield 3 not being sold on Steam?
This wasn't a game I was planning on buying, and this only makes me less likely to buy it. If it was on Steam, it may have caught my eye as a weekend deal or something.
To be honest, I don't really think this EA/Steam spat is such a big deal, and I don't know which company to blame. It's a bit of a nuisance for the gamer, though.
Happy! I hate steam anyway...tbh it has to many games on the market. But I'm sure lots of people like steam, so I assume they will be upset.
People can't complain because Valve, although offering brilliant prices, really do control the Downloadable games market, and quite a few games are only available on Steam.
The issue for me would be that origin is a bit of a **** service, but alas my pc won't be able to run it anyway.
Good idea! Anyone who wants their Steam username in the OP, quote me with it.

Personally, I'm not too fussed. I was going to pre-order a hard copy anyway and there's things like raptr and xfire which I can use to replace the Steam chat overlay.
It was always going to happen at some point. Steam's dominance over the downloadable PC game market was a little scary. I mean, I love Valve and their Steam, well renowned for low prices, and sometimes a monopoly does lead to more innovation but there was no real competition.
