That is weird because I thought alot of those unis you mentioned above are as if not more competetive than Stirling. It might be a mistake, it does happen Contact admissions and ask them to reconsider as they may have read your grades wrong.
Thanks for the advice, but I'm pretty sure it's not a mistake. They've said I can't meet the A level standards required for the course, which is correct. However, the uni's I have received offers from had entrance standards just as high or higher, so obviously they looked at more than just A levels.
I will give them a call, but I'm not very hopeful.

Oh well :/ even if you don't make it to Stirling the other ones you have applied to are just as good If not you could always try extremely hard at your A-levels, meet the standards required and the apply through clearance? Good luck
Well done!!! Thats great news! Glad they have started giving out the language offers - i might hear soon...........oh dear
Have you heard back from all your Uni's now? xxx
Thank you! Yes, I think they've given out a few, so I think you'll be getting your reply, which I'm sure will be an offer, sometime next week! I still have to hear from my second Stirling application for Primary Education with Specialism in Modern Languages, and then I have my wildcard as well, which Napier for Acting and English, but I'm not sure I mind that much about it anymore, seeing as I've got my Stirling offer! xxx
Had one offer for Computing, but I also applied to Computing, Business & Professional Education (which was my first choice) and Computing & Professional Education. Glad i've got at least one offer, but really hoping for my first choice as it means I wouldnt have to do a teaching postgrad course after my degree
I really love Stirling, but I can't decide! I'm still waiting to hear from Edinburgh. If I get an offer from there, then it will be such a hard decision! I know that Edinburgh is considered higher in the league tables, but I loved visiting Stirling in the summer and the course sounded really interesting. If I don't get an offer from Edinburgh, then Stirling will definately be my firm choice What about you?
Just had a rejection for Maths . Gutted as it was my top choice for a number of reasons! Also surprised as I've had offers from Lancaster, Kent and Heriot-Watt. And without sounding conceited, it wasn't down to my PS, as that was the best part of my application. I'll enquire, but I suspect I'm stuffed,
That's rather bizarre! Lancaster is really, really good uni in terms of rankings and satisfaction I'm sure. Plus maths isn't usually over-prescribed either...
I'd enquire about that if I were you.
EDIT: If anyone has any questions regarding Stirling and surrounding areas I can try and answer, I don't go/didn't apply to Stirling Uni, but I have lived here all my life so I know my way around the area.
I'm keen to find out exactly what course options are available. There's a lot in the prospectus about how flexible the degrees are, but I'd really like to see specifics. I can't believe you can choose absolutely anything. Also, I've applied for entry into year 2, which will change things considerably I imagine. As I understand the degree is flexible until the end if semester 3. Although you say you're not at that stage yet, I'm surprised you don't yet know what your options will be.
I have considered asking the uni directly, but not had much luck you other questions I've asked so far. I am planning on visiting, but I prefer to have a good idea of how the system works before I visit.
Edit : I guess my query no longer applies
3rd semester, from what I gather, is like 1 & 2. 1 or two compulsory modules, depending on the degree you are taking. 4th semester, I think from the way I understand what we've been told is that your main degree will now take up two-thirds of your modules, and for those doing single honours, your third choice is free, but if you are doing joint honours, the last module is in your minor. Like if you wanted to do History with politics, in 4th semester, you take 2 history modules and one politics.
Pretty much you can do anything you like together, as long as they don't clash on the timetable, and you have all the prerequisites, like higher/a level maths or whatever. And sometimes, a module has other prerequisites, like taking the previous module, or took a certain module and not failed it.
Does anyone know if Professional Education is one of the optional subjects you can pick?
In terms of modules, anyone can pick up the first year Education modules. However, only those who have applied to study the Professional Education course (also known as the ITE program) can continue with it. Some years there are spaces where people can join the ITE program if they do the first year modules as their extra module, but your chances of doing that are slim, especially if your teaching subject is pretty popular.
I didn't hear back from Education until early April last year, so if you haven't heard back yet try not to worry!

Thanks ! My teaching subject is computing (which i get the impression that people arent exactly comming out the woodwork to teach) so hopefully if i dont get accepted for my first choice it'll still work out

Ah, so have you already got an offer for Computing then? If you're second choice is Computing and Education (and no added subjects) then you should have a good chance of getting an offer, though don't quote me on this Computing doesn't seem like a very popular choice for teaching, so you should be ok. But as I said, they take their time replying back to the Education students, so although it's annoying you'll just have to wait it out

Well, good luck! It'll be annoying having to wait that long, but hopefully it'll be worth it in the end!
