Strongly leaning towards putting Economics at Sheffield as my insurance. Just can't quite bring myself yet to put it on UCAS!

Sigh, does sound kinda scary. But I still believe rankings are pretty stupid. And also, I think if you're applying for a biology job they'll look at the bio department rating rather than the uni as a whole. If you're going into something else they might just look at the uni ranking. But what someone said was right, it also matters how well you did in your degree, and all the extra stuff you do for your CV. And then of course once you get to interview stage the uni you went to wont matter. Especially as Imperial and sheffield are both pretty good.

I can see why you might think picking imperial might give you an edge. But I think it's so small that if you do actually prefer sheffield it's not worth picking imperial. Either way it'll be hard to get a job, and sheffield is a very highly ranked bio department anyway.

Also, are you on the masters course for sheffield? As if you have a higher level degree you can access way more jobs!
