UCAS points trouble?!

I sat my a levels last year, and im re applying to uni with 240 points. (not the best, but it was tough AS year, and ive left it to late to resist)

Anyway, ive applied to Sheffield Hallam and York St Joh, and Herts.

I'm mainly more focus on Herts because the course looks amazing,
covering English, Journalism and Media together, which is exactly what im interested in doing, i really want to study it!

However on UCAS the course is shown twice, just listed seperate ways round.

One being, Eng la and Comm/Media and Journalism

The other says, Journalism and Media/ Eng la and Comm.

The first one, says the requirements are 220-260, which i found odd considering Herts normally requires higher.
The secound one listed says 260. All the other courses similar are 300 points.

I applied for the first course, although they are exactly the same as i meet the requirements. But when searching the course on the uni's website, it didnt exsist!

Im worried, UCAS have made a mistake and ive applied for a course that wants 260 or higher and ill be rejected.

Any advice?

I'd suggest you contact the Uni itself to see what's going on. Maybe they could contact UCAS and take it off if they don't do that course anymore.

im just worried now cause ive already applied, seems like a choice wasted aha!

on the website the one course is called "English Language & Communication with Journalism BA Hons" and the other is called "English Language & Communication with Media Cultures BA Hons", they are two separate courses both having 300 ucas points entry requirements.

the courses do have different course codes however.

one being P5Q1PM

and the other being Q1PM

Maybe thats why? :smile:

I would call the uni tomorrow to get clarification. And you can pull those grades up just work hard.

Well im at uni and the moment, but im not enjoying it and am considering transferring or starting again.

I could probably get the 20 extra points if i do some resits.
I also have 2 a levels and 2 as's.
so if i completed my AS photography to full a2 i would get 260.

Have you thought about seeing whether you can transfer into the 2nd year? This way avoiding an extra year and higher fees?

Ive tried looking for hours but can only find similar ones, not the degree ive chosen.

Ive found

English Lang & Comm with Media Cultures (Q1P3) 3FT Hon BA
English Language & Communication with Film (Q1PH) 3FT Hon BA
English Literature with Media Cultures (Q3P3) 3FT Hon BA

But not
English Lang & Comms/Journalism & Media Cultures (Q1PM) 3FT/4SW Hon BSc

Yeah same, but i cant seem to find my course.
I tried to check online as i thought it was a little odd,
but i think they might be different course with similar names :smile:

they might have changed the course, speak to them about it.

The course specific requirements say 220, however the course overview says 260.
Im pretty confused, and gutted now that i've sent off an application for somewhere im going to get rejected from because i have the incorrect grades. :frown:
