Hi, everyone!

Can anyone here give me some speaking tips?

I had a mock oral exam last week and I noticed that I began all my sentences with either "pienso que" or "creo que" anything else I can use for a bit of variety?

yo diria que
a mi modo de ver
desde mi punto de vista
para mi

also A2, whats everyone doing for cultural topics?

We're doing Almodovar films (Volver, Todo Sobre Mi Madre, Los Abrazos Rotos and La Piel Que Habito) and Juan Rulfo's short stories.

btw as a word of warning, La Piel Que Habito may well be the most ****ed up film that I've ever seen... just a heads-up

Man, I'm only in AS and my Spanish teacher made us watch Live Flesh- 'carne trémula' or whatever it's called.

But, is 'La piel Que Habito' as bad as The Human Centipede?!

I actually liked 'La Piel que Habito' more than some Almodóvar films. Hmm, I haven't seen Los Abrazos Rotos. Is it any good? What exam board are you on?

:O Your teacher made you watch 'Carne Trémula' in class? I watched that on my own and I was glad I did, haha. The only films we have watched in class are Volver and El Laberinto del Fauno

Estoy bien! No sé. Buena suerte para tu examen oral!

I can't say, I've never seen The Human Centipede. If I'm going by things I've heard the acting and story of it was horrendous, just an excuse to sew bums to people's faces. As a film La Piel Que Habito is pretty good, the acting's great and it's compelling in a way.

I really liked Los Abrazos Rotos, it's a bit like Volver but funnier and more interesting imo. I'm on AQA, you?

I never really liked Volver. I watched and thought that it'd be a film that I didn't like then came to like, but I watched it again recently and my opinion of it changed only slightly because all the foreshadowing of the events to come in the film were clearer as I knew what was going to happen. I still prefer other Aldomóvar films to Volver. I'm going to add it to my list of films to see after my exams have finished, haha. I'm on AQA too! What are you cultural topics and when's your oral exam?

We're doing Almodovar films (Volver, Los Abrazos Rotos and Todo Sobre Mi Madre), and short stories by Juan Rulfo (he's a Mexican writer, most of his stories are really hard to understand and are all about death/incest/guilt of peasants at the time of the Mexican Revolution - fun fun fun!)

I had my oral last week, it was ok but I ran out of things to say on the card! When is yours?
I have my oral exam in 45 minutes  Aaaargh!
Im doing Bogota Colombia for my cultural topic,
(A Target language-speaking region/community)

AQA specification states in bulletpoints:

1. Its geography, influences for the region.

2. Its history, how this influenced/influences the region

3. Its industries - how theyve changed in the last 20 years. What about the future?

4. Its population and how its changed in the last 20 years. What about the future?

5. Its economy, how important this is/was.

6. A personal perspective: would i like to live/work in this region?

Anyone able to help me out with a few things to say in the 5 minutes?

Hmm. We've only done one film. I think it's because my teacher is crap, lol. I like Todo Sobre Mi Madre even though I haven't watched it in ages  Oh, I wish we studied some Literature. I've never read a full story in Spanish, not even a short one. I've only read some poems, haha. Oh, studying Juan Rulfo's work really does sound like fun...

I'm not allowed to ask what your card was am I? Well, I hope you did well  I hate when you run out of things to say :/ That happens to me often when I'm practising. I think I have too much to say about Francisco Franco though because I really enjoyed learning about 'El Franquismo'. Mine's this Thursday :/ I'm actually quite scared, haha. I don't even know where I'm doing my exam because my school is being renovated and the place where oral exams are normally conducted is blocked off. So you're just focusing on the written paper now? What's the best part of the written paper in your opinion?

Hola  Los pasteles franceses?

I'm not sure if you are or not, but I won't tell you just to be on the safe side! I wouldn't say that the card was easy, but it wasn't really much harder than any of the past ones.

I think that the listening and reading parts of the paper are pretty easy, they're just comprehension really. I'm alright on the Spanish - English translation, but I'm having a bit of difficulty with the English - Spanish, I didn't realise how small my vocabulary actually was until we did a practice paper a few weeks ago! The essay can be a bit of a bitch imo, but if there's a really generic one (like cuales son los temas principales del autor que has estudiado?) it's not too bad.

Good luck for your oral, whenever it is!
