Tremendous knock by the captain, well played Alastair Cook, even though the delivery was a bit suspicious.

England have bowled nicely and put some pressure on Pakistan.
So ****ing happy for Rashid.
**** off
Lol @ Pakistan today. The only side who can compete with England in hilarious collapses.

Looks like they've been smart enough to let the light save them though.

Edit- yup, that's it :nopity:
Epic collapse by Pakistan but we got away with it. It looks like Misbah innings of 50 was crucial in the end.
After 4 days of dull cricket the final day turned out to be a nail biter. A draw was almost guaranteed but Pakistans batting collapse gave England a chance to win. Light wins at the end. Hopefully, the next couple of test matches are as interesting as today.

I reckon it was a fair result. Both teams played very well
Happy for Rashid, quietens down some of the unfair stick he got in my opinion. Conditions did get slightly better as the days went on but he did really well. Pakistan, got complacent in thinking the spinners were going to be just as easy as the first innings hence the poor dismissals of Misbah and Younus. Umpire had to go off considering they went same time days before.

Pakistan are such idiots sometimes lol

We do so well and then muck it all up
I don't blame Pakistan in any way for procrastinating, but cricket really does need to do something to eliminate these kind of scenes.

We - as viewers - had to endure four days of pretty turgid and non-eventful cricket. Then, we were treated to a thrilling climax and the possibility of a result before the players got hauled off.
There are two separate issues at play here- over rates and bad light regulations.

Over rates were particularly bad today (think Pakistan were 11 p/h with their spinners at one point), but they've been a problem for years and the only solution is penalty runs against teams who fall short of a target- say 15 overs per hour.

Bad light regulations are tricky, it's so frustrating for viewers because it looks so much lighter on TV. With day/night tests on the way I think there might be scope for normal tests to play under lights if a result is on the cards.
Every team would have done the same in Pakistan's shoes, infact Zimbabwe did the same during a recent ODI match against Pakistan and as noted above, once punishments are provided then that might help the issue.

Interesting analysis on Rashid from the first to second innings, clearly changed his position at the crease second time round combined with taking his first Test wicket the inspiration to pick up a five for. Not sure he can speed up his bowling compared to off spin but delighted to see him contribute.

Looking forward to Azhar Ali and Yasir Shah coming into Pakistan's side, especially the latter. Also impressed with Imran Khan, got a good action and bowled nicely.

Yes - the playing regulations are wrong. Two things: if the umpires suspect one team is deliberately wasting time then they should be given a 10 run penalty, and this should be repeatedly applied until they speed up.

They should also revert to the rule that the players should also not go off for bad light unless the batsmen request it.
Anyone following the Rugby? It has been a great tournament for the weaker sides. Japan beat South Africa and were fantastic throughout, Argentina just beat Ireland to reach the semi finals, Georgia played well in the groups, and even Namibia who lost every game put in some great performances. Its really made the tournament so much better and its felt like a proper World Cup.

Just thought it was an interesting contrast with the ICC, with the move to 10 team World Cups and all the power in the hands of England, India and Australia. Rugby has shown what investing in the outsider teams can do and what it can bring to sport, while Cricket continues to do all it can to stop the likes of Ireland and Afghanistan moving forward.

Cricket is generally geared towards the countries who can generate the most profit.

Yes, with the important qualification that it's the most profit for the teams already making profit.

Take the Olympics, there's a bit of a push to get a T20 competition into the Olympics. You do that and China take it seriously immediately, and that's a huge market to exploit. It's also a very accessible format for other associates and affiliates to get involved with. But the establishment has pushed back because it would interfere with their TV deals. Giles Clarke has been particularly prominent in his opposition.

The exclusion of associates from World Cups is grating and that's money driven. The ICC is still scarred from 2007- when Bangladesh beat India in the groups and interest in the tournament plummeted- but the answer isn't running one of the most inclusive sports around.

I agree, Cricket needs more exposure to gather more support. It doesn't make things any easier when the same Big 3 teams frequently play against each other yearly, how good was that England series against New Zealand before the Ashes?!.
The Olympic T20 competition would be a very good idea going into Rio 2016.

Where did Dhoni's bat go
Listened to that **** Piers Morgan on talkSPORT today. He was basically slating Cook's batting for being boring the other day. Ridiculous. When another team posts 500+, Cook's calmness in the face of adversity is something to be cherished, championed and marvelled. It was a great innings, and that pitch required concentration and an ability to dig in.
