What are the Easiest and least respected A levels?

What?! Language really is. It is an incredibly hard a level apparently.

There is a difference between difficulty and the level to which a subject is respected. Language may be hard, but in the views on the universities, it doesn't teach the same skills as literature.

I did Computing AS level and it's a complete load of ****. The syllabus is crap, at least under AQA and everyone seemed to be failing. A2 coursework is apparently a bitch too.

And i'm doing a computer science degree come september. A level computing is almost as useless a preparation for a computer science degree as ICT.

Are you sure that it wasn't just your class that were crap? :colonhash:

You posted this ages ago but may as well answer for anyone confused; subjects such as Law, Archaeology and Anthropology require extensive in-depth learning, and there quite simply isn't enough time in a 2 year A-Level course to study these specialist subjects at a high enough level. For this reason the courses themselves are quite limited in respect to the actual subject itself so Universities see them as less respected because the students don't have to work as hard as in other subjects. Any thoughts on Government & Politics? I'm doing my GCSEs and initially chose it to study this September but then changed it to Maths; perhaps GovPol isn't widely subscribed but I don't know if this makes it less respected?

Thanks for answering my question  It now makes much more sense.
This post is obviously going to have mixed reviews..

People saying health and social care is not respectful but you wouldn't want to give birth or have your partner giving birth and the midwife not knowing anything would you? I do health and social care and I can tell you it is quite hard.. You need to know all the policies that care practices use.. You need to know all the acts in detail and you need to know how to take care of elderly, children and disabled and so much more.. So actually health and social is not just a doddle

I agree some universities may not care about it as much as other subjects but it's still important depending what your going to do just like all subjects. It's not so much that a subject is hard, you need to choose subjects you have interest in and not the easiest

Considering that Biology is almost compulsory to get into Medicine, one of the most competitive courses in our country, I'd have to disagree with you on that one. No comment on the other two though..
I fail to see how people can comment if they haven't studied the subject themselves. You can be easy to judge subjects such as PE or media studies by saying they are easy, but if you don't study them, how can you know?
Some people are thoughtless to the students studying hard for their subjects on here.

WTF? Biology - I don't think so.
I hate that drama is a light subject, I found it really tough!! So unfair (As with other subjects)

I think it's because people are judging the difficulty on academia, however, saying that, subjects that aren't as academic are still hard :/

In my opinion this is rubbish. English language obviously doesn't teach the same skills as literature- they are two completely seperate subjects. Somebody that exceeds in literature may struggle with language and vice versa; I can't see as to why any university would look down upon language at all in preference for a literature a level- it's entirely down to the course you choose for university!

Precisely! They are different subjects requiring different skill sets! Just because they share a name...... and clearly if you are wanting to do English Lit at uni, then English lit is probably more appropriate as an A-Level!

Not sure about easiest (since I don't start sixth form until September) but the some which are not respected are:

Media Studies
Business Studies
Travel & Tourism
World Development

I can tell you Business is not easy and in Btec requires a lot of coursework, presentations, at home studies etc.

I never said any of them were easy, just that they are subjects which universities think are useless.

my school didn't offer a single subject on that list on the first page. i don't think i can judge because i've not got a clue what most of them are.
