I have enjoyed a quick browse through here as I no longer feel quite so ancient. I am 41 and a mother of 3 about to start a PGCE in Secondary SCience (Physics) in September.

Hi, I never really felt too old, as long as I can breathe and walk  I am 39, got 3 happy noisy kids, and start a pgce secondary mfl at Kingston in a few days. A bit stressed and worried, extremely excited...anyway, I'll do my best and try to survive and even enjoy...that's the plan
Good luck to you x

I'm 32 and starting the Access course. I'm looking to start a business degree next October but I'm seriously considering a social work degree instead.
I've always been the same.... Never able to make up my mind!
Actually, if you start your higher studies at the age of 21 or above, you are considered a mature student:

So you don't need to be old, have a family, have been working etc. to be considered a mature student

Goldsmiths, the course is interdisciplinary- much the same as fine art where you have workshops in different disciplines & then when you get a brief you can interpret it into whichever medium you choose, ie graphics or textiles. I start on 30th so i'll understand more after that. Its all so exciting though. A year ago i never would gave dreamed i'd be doing this!

Hey all! Are there any mature students in Greenwich University (Greenwich campus)? my mum's just started today, she's studying Marketing and she's feeling rather lonely:frown: most students are younger than her (she's 43 btw) lemme know, everyone needs a friend or two!

I'll be 28 when I start university next September (2014) so Yo! haha. Hopefully I'll get into a biomedical science course but I don't know what University is best! Where do I apply?! Ulster, Sheffield, York, Liverpool JM, Cardiff, Aberdeen, Naiper. Spoilt for choice

I've just started at Newcastle University and am studying Medical Science, I get to choose at the end of Yr 1 whether to specialise in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Pharmacology etc (there are 7 different degrees I can choose).

Biomedical Science is very competitive now (it's usually the 5th choice for Medicine or Dentistry applicants), but there are some very good degree programmes out there. You need to decide whether you want to do an IBMS accredited degree, which allows you to work in the NHS as a Biomedical Scientist, or a non accredited degree, which gives you greater flexibility. If you choose a non accredited degree it is relatively simple to gain accreditation, if you later decide you want to work within the NHS

I chose Newcastle because I want to study Medicine; they have a transfer to Medicine programme and, if I don't transfer, many of their graduates go on to study Medicine. Newcastle is one of the few Universities that you get to study anatomy by using a cadaver, I think Sheffield is one of the others.

Good luck.
