Find out what colour your graduation hood will be and get a tie that matches that, wear a plain white, well fitting shirt without a button down collar. Personally I'd go for french cuffs with some nice cufflinks.

You can choose between a regular collar, a spread/cutaway collar (allows a bigger tie knot, good for a formal occassion) or a round collar (will only really suits a slim fitting suit).

Any black/navy/grey suit will be suitable, if you're buying a new one I'd get navy first as it's probably most versitile. If it's summer you might not even need the jacket so to save the money could just get some well fitting dress trousers.

Not personally a fan of button down collars combined with suits and ties for a formal occasion. I've always viewed button downs as stuff that should be worn more casually.

It's not that cheap

I don't find this one cheap. I have two more an it's the same quality- for the price you will never find something with a better quality.

I've already ordered a couple of times from the US ... Sometimes up to 250euros but I never paid customs duty!

And normally under $60/60€/£60 you do NOT have to pay any duty. ;-)
