Also does the 24% or 31% or whatever contrubite to the final overall grade for the A-Level or does it fail the whole thing until at least a 40%+ grade is acheived in the final exam?

So for example I have a grade C overall from the 6 exams but only 23% in C4. Is that still a C overall or a fail?

If you get less than 40 UMS that is a U for the C4 unit - the % will depend on grade boundaries
regardless of the unit grade any marks achieved will count to your overall maths grade
