Back from an amazing day at the stadium
Am so excited by our additional role...woopie  cannot stop smiling!!

What an ace rehearsal we had. I'm so glad I'm a 41 Runner so I get to be on the F-O-P :happy2:

Just in case you were wondering how they decided on who gets which role, the guy next to me says that it was his first rehearsal!? So they can't have gone on the effort people have put in. Very strange!!!

Commonliner, nice to bump into you!

Just sad to hear people were giving the CCs grief about not having much to do today. I know I moan a lot about too, but letting it out on them is just not on!

Found out that our (pro) section has been dropped in its entirety from the Opening Ceremony, too for reasons if timing (sounds likely given what else we've heard). Gutted...

So sorry to hear that!!!

Oh no!!! What awful news. Just dreadful, so sorry to hear. I am sure so much deliberation went into that decision and am sure it did not come easily. Hope you get sorted with something else??:frown:

Oh noooo! Can't they integrate you into one of the other segments?

Concord, I am so gutted for you! Like everyone else has asked, does this mean you're no longer in it at all? I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel!

Oh no. This is such heartbreaking news about a segment being cut, and times being shaved off of others... I sincerely hope those who were affected get slotted in somewhere else in the show.

Incidentally, at yesterday's rehearsal Danny spoke about these changes, but his mike was not on our particular FM until about halfway through. Can anyone relay (by PM, if need be) what was said? Thanks.

Oh no! So sorry that it has gone! And guessing since you are pro, they won't integrate you as a reserve!

Very mixed day for the 41s. Those of us who are runners had a great day; the others felt it was a bit of a waste of time. Definitely a case where some more comms around what to expect would have been good. But some really were taking it out on CCs which is slightly unfair. They can only go on what they are being told from above - which is all a bit last minute as they try to finalise things. It is understandable when you hear from others what is happening but otherwise there's just not enough info really out there as to why we end up hanging around. Will be interesting to see how many may no show on Weds

I am absolutely gutted for you Concord! To happen so soon before the Olympics too. Is there no way they can slot you in somewhere else although I know it is not your specialist role. I thought we had it bad having our segment cut from 17 minyutes to 15 minutes- i know all segments were being trimmed but to have yours cut completely must be devastating. They are still desperate for people for the paralympics bur that is not the same. I really feel for you and hope that they are able to sort something out or you. Ironic to have come on the day you eventually got your accreditation too.
Sorry to hear your news Concord. Still waiting to see how my new FOP role will work without the "hardware" in place. Mixed feelings on today really but feel Oh so tired!

The drummers, you are all amazing and Drumbeat was lovely to see you and based right in front of me too!!

Thanks also to the amazing crew who entertained us earlier you were amazing!!!

I thought today was lovely too, just a really nice atmosphere in spite of all the waiting around - and the weather helped. After my dance bit I volunteered to stay on as an 'extra' in the following section, so got to see the very glamorous PLBs and drummers in action too. I was upset at the minor-ish cuts in our section so I can't imagine how Concord feels no longer having any section at all. We weren't told the details behind it, but I think whoever way up on high has insisted on cutting the length is shortsighted - the UK should be allowed to risk a bit of an overrun once every 60 years.

Thank you all! I did wonder yesterday, when our rehearsal was cancelled, whether we'd be dropped - I was proved right. There's a chance that've might get slotted in somewhere else in the show which, given what I'm reading here, might be necessary if people are still dropping out.

And failing that a family member has very generously offered me their opening ceremony ticket, so I'll be there one way or the other, although I'd prefer to be on the FOP...

I don't think it was a decision made lightly, and they must be under terrible time pressure, but it is sad nonetheless. For the rest of you in the Ceremony, good luck and enjoy the ride! I'm sure I'll meet you at a TSR celebration. And for those 41ers who'd seen what we were going to do, you'll appreciate my slight relief that I now won't run the risk of a fatal injury on global television. Phew. It was a health and safety nightmare in the making!

I think if we dropped the Parade of Athletes, or just kept it to GB, all problems would be solved!

Concord they have been offering only the last few days places as marshals in both para ceremonies. Someone from here was offered audience leader and one girl in my group has just today been offered Placard bearer for both paras so if you were able to do para rehearsals surely they could slot you in.. At the very least they should give you a ticket for the dress rehearsal for the opening. Good luck - hope something comes up for you and as you say at least you will remain in one piece. How many in your section are affected by this.? Whatever you are still very much a part of The TSR family!

If we got all those super-fit world class athletes to do a brisk jog round rather than a meandering stroll, chattting and taking photos (surely not a problem for Usain Bolt and all those sub 10second sprinters) that should fix it. They're always hogging the limelight.

I've just got back from the stadium where I was talking to the guy that runs all of the workforce and he told me. It's not just your segment but a couple of other bits too (all pro sections). He told me why. I feel so sorry for you guys. If the reasons are true (and I see no reason why he wouldn't know the facts) it really sucks. Really, really sorry. Think they should at least give you tickets now.

I saw you rehearsing the other night and you were amazing - the show will be much poorer without you - a great shame.

I saw your segment which was fantastic! Then I also took part in the next section like you - twice! Great fun!
Concord, really sorry to hear. While the 49 segment is quite busy, there's still some space here and there, they could integrate your bits into that sequence.

And I fully support Caroline27's suggestion - they are athletes, surely the 51 mashers can speed them up!!

Nice rehearsal tonight, I bumped into more TSRers than ever before, that was good! I'm getting excited about my final position - epic.
