The Student Room Group
heavily depends on how long they've been in the job for. For gradutes, it starts pretty similar to front office, although it doesn't rise nearly as fast.

Salary - six figures typically the top with a sprinkling of sevens. Bonuses included in that.
Anyone point me in the direction of a source, or tell me themselves the difference between, front, middle and back office? In fact a brief description of what Investment Banking entails would be good as it seems popular and it can't just be for the money....
Investment banking - managing financial risk and servicing financial needs for clients who are typically large and require specialists.

Front office - client facing, revenue generating.
Middle office - in between front and back (typically risk managing or cost cutting)
Back office - not client facing, not revenue generating

You're still in school/college... I wouldn't worry about it very much/at all.

Like the idea of client interaction, I was also looking at Management Consultancy etc.

Last year of college and it seems compulsory for economics undergraduates to wet themselves about IB.

Thanks for the overview anyway.

Found this for anyone in the same position as me. Was quite informative.

Amen.

Would the hours be similar to the 120 hour front office hours?

Also, has anyone ever seen an employee profile in an IB of which their occupation was 'in-house lawyer' or another job title regarding law.

Cheers.

Ok... 120 hours is about right in IBD if you are having a seriously rough week. Seriously (although, a lot of people have been having such rough weeks of late but that's because there's a lot of money to be made)

Front office positions on the trading floor are more like 60 a week (trading, sales, research).

And no, but I wouldn't look for it...

The best way to get info is to talk to people - you get to pick their brains for all the things websites can't and won't tell you... leading the conversation wherever you like.

Would such lawyers have their job titles hidden in such "mumbo-jumbo"? What other titles (if any) could a lawyer have?

Does job title matter?

You could be a toliet cleaner but if you earn £500,000, nice one.

Top notch :top:

And yes, it does. As that way, I can look at the education record for the in-house lawyers and compare.
